What is this mysterious fade you speak of? Never had an issue with the standard calipers with decent fluid and decent pads. Whether any of that is down to the bells and rotors all round, I don't know.

the four pots are the best upgrade on brakes not once did they fade at anglsey along with new rear calipers imo makes the braking as good as it will ever be.

Had two passengers at anglesey comment how good my standard breaks (pf01 pads) were. Both had 4 pots!

Find me someone who tracks regularly, who has upgraded calipers and doesnt think its a step change improvement. I rebuilt my aps and they were much better. New pistons etc. They worked well, but they work better on the rear axle with something fit for purpose up front. I think the aps are fine, only if you upgrade everything else.

Yep! I was one :)

Felt very very strong indeed, mind the few laps you took me out on George really gave me a lesson in how a car should be driven! thumbsup

Well im sure it was brake fade and not abs, brakes just started to feel spongey and not great after a good few laps, pull in have a rest and then they were fine maybe brake fluid but was all new as change mine every year regardless.

My brakes really started to fade at the National as well, sure it's not the 4 pots or the CL5's! Was using Halfords DOT 4 'high performance' fluid but changed that this morning for 'ATE Super Blue' & pedal feels firmer already :)

Depends how you drive but i change my fluid every 3 trackdays (about 3 times a year) as the cost is tiny and im paranoid

John i need to take you out in my car. Either your std brakes were fooked or you were doing sonething wrong.

I do love the look of 4 pots though and can see my self upgrading so my car looks good

George... I know they can work great, have had the pleasure of pax with steve and darron in the past. You looked like you were going really well too. I tried new disks, pads, fluid, pistons, seals all at once. Then i tried cl5+ and i got them so hot that chunks fell out and the powdercoating on my wheels bubbled. What I didnt use was posh fluid - so really thats all it could be in my mind. Now with the hispecs and ftr brackets there is some real margin for error - I bet cheap pads would stop it now. You can have a do in mine next time i run into you at a track and give me an opinion. Maybe i just need to lose weight!!

I think people are associating brake fade with total loss of brake power I get fade on track but never total loss. On the road my current setup (std discs, RC5+ pads and front cooling kit) can pull -1.2g of braking force. On the Anglesey International extended part I was seeing only -0.8g on the approach to the hairpin and -0.7g on the next hard braking zone towards the pit lane. In short I am loosing 33% of my brakes when on track and up to 42% when really hammering it. Due to the fact I have good fluid it never boils and always give me a consistent braking experience. I am about to start some quantitive testing on brake upgrades one by one to isolate what the weak link is and how much better things get for how much money. I have started of with a set of alloy belled discs and will post the results after my next track day. ETA - IMO 4 pots, fancy disks, etc etc are all pointless on the road so if you don't track, save your money.
