Was the stack reading sensible temperature values?

That'll be a peeenarsed Coolant temp sensor and/or wiring to the sensor/ECU then I'd also check the grounding of the Battery -ve terminal to the Chassis, and the Chassis to the Engine/Gearbox.

4. Blue plugs of doom. Unable to get at them due to time restraint but gave them a spray and a squeeze

time for a closer look :poke:

When you fixed it (temporarily) what was it that sorted it... Or did you fiddle with a few things? Edit: had a search. If you think it was the egr connector, could this still be the problem? Maybe try a new cheater... Or a new connector... Or both.

you can run without any egr connected, you just get an eml so just unplug it and see how it runs

I didn't know that, but I do know the fan will come on without an egr/cheater... Took me ages to figure out

depends on the map on the z22se ecu, some don't switch the fan on for an eml, others do but a good way to prove if it's egr valve related or not

MY EGR used to cause problems where my accelerator would de-activate and my revs would dance. I blanked it off and it was fine but you need to make sure you've rotated it far enough for the valve still to open otherwise it still causes an issue. Have you checked your negative terminal on your battery yet?

I have now sprayed every plug on the engine loom with contact cleaner, nothing obviously wrong with anything. Car starts okay and throttle seems perfectly fine. But only time will tell if thats fixed it

On the other side of the coin, I have located the 070 Crimp tool so can investigate a 'replacement' Blue plug setup :)

Sorry to hear this BVSD! Do you get all the normal noises when turning the key (when there was juice in the battery that is)

I would check the main earth cables first, at front - next to battery and rear - next to gearbox the abs and airbag do not go to the engine ecu, so leave the blue/black plugs - for now :borg:

Are the terminals in the blue and back plug tight ie the spring bit is still springy? Mine went weak so I had to swap the terminals. They were clean and corrosion free but still fooked. I can source these but not the delphi ones on the throttle plug.
