The engine, Garret, CMS exhaust manifold and Dave Hardwick intake kit are now for sale again. £1500 for everything and available for collection from Coventry.

mbes might be interested , would a lot cheaper to have a proven build than buy all the bit seperate and then have an engine builder install.

Just to recap its spec

 

Oem LEH head

Multi layer standard compression head gasket

Practicly new coil pack

Fully forged, rebuilt and balanced LET bottom end

Bottom end is painted red

Top end cover is also painted red, but is easily replaced with an OEM cover.

 

Now for the bad bit. The engine is in perfect working order. However, it is smoking. After a compression test, cyclinder two was found to be lower than the other cylinders so I suspect it requires a a new piston ring and re-hone of cylinder two.

 

For someone that has the knowledge or who would like to use this as a project to tinker with an engine that already contains all the best parts available, it is a perfect opportunity to save alot of cash especialy as the engine is already out and easy to work on.

That's dissapointing, having been split and sold several times then up for sale together for a day then split again Engine is now more expensive than previously advertised. Personally I would have been interested in the whole lot had it not been split again so quickly. . Oh well.

There were big savings to be had if someone wanted the hole lot due to cost of splitting up, postages here there and everywhere and that its more of a pain. I would have prefered to sell it like that hence the crazy low asking price. The cost of the bits are still well below half price of retail though. Nothing has been split or sold as of yet due to people umming and arring. As stated above, I am open to sensible offers. Else ill just have it checked out, fixed and then put it up for more money as a guarenteed engine. I need to put an advert up on the astra forum as It will sell more quickly on there. Just thought id offer it as a bargain to the right person on the vx community first. Zach

thats the only thing stopping me , the uncertainty of #2 and potential damage. If only the head was taken off to inspect, worst case this confirms the bad news and its worth not as much , or its just a HG

Very fare and valid comments. It looks like that is the way im going to have to go. The sum of the individual parts comes to a far greater value to the asking price even if it was a more serious fault, which i doubt very much it is. And as stated, I am open to offers. However, ill be starting the ball rowling to getting it stripped and the problem sorted tomorow. Zach
