Hate seeing these threads The number of non fault accidents these cars are involved in seems to be so high.
Hope it all goes smoothly for you Zuber, at least sounds like you're dealing with some cooperative insurers.

I really wanna know how this pans out especially the Vauxhall repair quote as they have no front clams in the whole network. They will write it off for sure.

Part of the problem is how low the car is. People pulling out expect to be able to tell a car is coming through other vehicles glass etc. So with the VX, other vehicle visibility is restricted a bit like when a van is parked and blocking the view.
Even being Bright Yellow doesn't help
Maybe adding Flagpoles to the car is the answer.

Yep. Right Off. They are being tight about valuation. Managed to up it a bit (not much) after moaning, haggling pointing them to AutoTrader etc.
Didn't give me details of the repair cost, just said it was greater than the value of the car and they wern't prepared to repair. Cat C...
£4700 I keep the car.
Now I have to decide if it makes more sense to repair it or sell to someone who knows what they are doing and pick up another one.
So you guys think putting it on eBay would work ? In terms of getting a fair price for the car or is too specialized and not enough interested parties to make it a proper auction ?
Realistic price, so I can weigh up against repair costs ?
Thanks for all the info...

Then just a respray required (and you needed that to start with ).
Thats true. I'd been saving pennies for that.
Just glad I hadn't had it done yet. Part of the reason I'm not feeling so down. If I'd just resprayed, I'd probably be in for murder right now...

4700 after buying back for me would be a no brainer. jb front clam and a new door will set you back just over 1k, that gives you plenty for a respray and do some extras.
did you get to check over the front suspension? I take it they weren't interested in a repair quote from anywhere else other than vauxhall then?

Yeah that.. I'd do that IMO.They pay you £4700 and you keep the car? If so, go for it. It's not like you need any specialist knowledge to replace the front clam with a JB replica or an intact secondhand one and source a used door. Assuming there's nothing nasty lurking in the arch then it's a half day job to remove the front clam and door and replace. Then just a respray required (and you needed that to start with
).

Not had a proper look, just with wheels on lock. Chassis looks ok. Not sure about suspension arms yet. I'll take the whell off at the weekend and take a proper look and get the local garage to check it over.
What's the mileage spec of car etc , its limited edition ?
Mileage is 65k. It's an LY.
After haggling, the offer seems reasonable.
Main thing is I need a car. So repair time could be a big issue for me...

Presumedly you get it checked out before you accept in case it is actually fubard?
I know it's not seriously foobard. I drove it to and from the Vauxhall dealer it felt ok.

You could have it fixed up for under 2k. The door looked repairable although they are fairly cheap anyway. Clam is no problem
clams in Stock too so if you can get a body shop to do it you could be back on the road in a week or two
Need to do some work, but that will most likely be the plan once I get some urgent work out the way...
