Ah didn't realise that. I guess chassis damage would be the main concern.I know it's not seriously foobard. I drove it to and from the Vauxhall dealer it felt ok.Presumedly you get it checked out before you accept in case it is actually fubard?

as a previous owner of 009 and a recent clam-mangler i'd be happy to donate my front clam section that miraculously has the sections you smashed intact?
I personally went for a JB special but just throwing that option out there - i'm sure its pretty common to chop the good/bad bits in and out?

Doing that sounds messy. But I'll look into it...
I don't see any damage. So looks quite promising. Anything not look right to you guys ?

Just a couple of pointers, all IMO of course
This isn't a 'write off' situation. This is a claim against a third party. Only your insurer can 'write off' your car under their contract with you.
You have a claim to have your car repaired, capped at the actual value of the car. If you agree a deal with the third party's insurer, they may seek to include your car as salvage, but that's up to you.
They want to settle quickly, as their liability ceases once payment is made. Up until that time, they are liable for your losses arising from the incident. In other words, to keep you mobile, i.e. a hire car. Don't get rid of this car merely because you need transport. Tell the other side you need transport, I'll wager there will be a hire car on your drive within the hour.
You're in the box seat. Take the money for a 'proper' repair, DIY, pocket the difference. It's a win win.

can you take the money for the repair? Wouldn't they want to just pay for the repair directly?

No, there is a big difference between a claim on your insurance, which is regulated by your contract with the insurance company, and a claim against a third party, which is a pure negligence claim.

4,7k seems a bit low to be honest (looking on autotrader) not even a LY on there right now closest to your spec is up at nearly 8k so there putting the salvage value at 3.3K which seems a little steep to me? I'd try haggling with them some more?
I managed to get mine back last year for 1k salvage value (needed new front and rear clam) and 8k in my pocket

It's £4.7k cash, plus the car. That values it at more like £7k (depending on how much they think they'd get for the car at auction).

I thought it was 4700 cash plus keep the car which seems a reasonable deal4,7k seems a bit low to be honest (looking on autotrader)

I assume in this case the car still gets registered as a Cat D?
I'm in a similar position.

Yes will be registered cat c, or d
Not so sure this is the case. If the insurer does not take title to the vehicle, it's simply a payment against a claim, not against the value of the car.
