Just been ambushed by the God Squad in my garage whilst changing something on the VX. :o

Had a decent little argument but was then stumped when they said "but what about this beautiful car, was that not designed?". Only thing I could say was "well, it's a shitty Vauxhall, so designed is a bit of stretch and the evolution model is probably a better fit". "Oh, it's Vauxhall, I thought it was a Lamborghini". Then they left.

You should have gave them the evolution theory, pony and trap to VX and beyond, it can all be proved in the museums and by science  I enjoy the discussions with most of them, not sure about the guy praying for my death !

Feel like I should say something like God not being interested in if you are rich or poor, but what you do with it or something.

See the way I think about it is I'm not saying I'm a full church going believer but also I'm not a non believer just hoping that when I doe if he/she does happen to exist it'll stand me in good stead that I hadn't ruled it out.

Wasting your life! If murderers can have a priest on the day of execution for their absolution & stories of people repenting on their deathbed, you might as well live as you want, obviously law abiding because any other way is totally wrong, then repent & the gates will open & St Peter, remember the guy that decided he wanted to be a Christian on that road to Damascus & some how allegedly went to Cyprus on his travels? Sorry, will look on his clipboard to see if your names on the list! And everybody knows from their clubbin days? If yer name in't on the list you ain't comin in!

I dont think you can pull a fast one with God. If you think you can bang as many bitches (clubbing language) and then say sorry mate at the pearly gates then I wouldn't want to bet you'd get in. I recon It all depends how sorry you truly are. Be interesting to see if Stalin and Hitler and Pol Pot are strutting round heaven.

OK, so 'god' might not be chuffed about that, BUT his corporate representation on earth certainly sell repenting as a valid fast track pass..... Who is right, who is wrong, and how does one prove that little argument.

its a very christian point of view to insist on only one god , where there are plenty of references to many gods Exodus 23:13-32 Make no mention of the name of other gods, neither let it be heard out of thy mouth. (v.13) Thou shalt not bow down to their gods, nor serve them, nor do after their works: but thou shalt utterly overthrow them, and quite break down their images. (v.24) Thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor with their gods. (v.32)

Is it though? Doesn't Islam preclude the existence of any God but the God and certainly the Wahhabi [mis?]interpretation of the Quran is just as much a call to arms against all others (including "lesser" branches of Islam) as those old testament "quotes" that were presumably brandished by the knights of yore, during the crusades. I'm sure that Judaism (or at least some of the ultra orthodox branches of it) probably does very similar.

It may just be that generally, excluding some of the American mentalists, christianity is the most evolved of the mainstream religions and has got past (or just given up fighting) the insistence that their God is the only God at the cost of any and all other belief systems.

Good point, so he is saying other gods exist but you have to be in my gang. So if you believe in God you must also believe in other gods as he tells you they exist. It's all a little strange.

Fundamentalism/extremism is religions biggest problem and is a common enemy for everyone, whatever your belief system. IMHO.

ETA: That's the most I've thought about religion since an R.E. lesson when our teacher introduced us to Rastafarianism with the aid of a Bob Marley album.
