Sorry Gordon, clean got carried away with intergalactic teapots. Look some things I cant figure out. Not that Ive not given it much thought. So who was wicked the Nazies for killing 6m Jews or God for not intervening? ..same as your question right? ? By in large God has left the managemet of earthly things to mankind...well not sure if ed miliband is human...so tough as it seems things rocked up for many people in ww2. But all the same how many Jews escaped death at the end of the conflict? Well this doesnt quite answer your question so I will think on this some more.

" Mafia Boss? "

In the middle of all this belief/no belief Mark says Mafia Boss back from Ferrari world... That cracked me up, that was v v funny.

Like I said, my way of thinking , without proof etc kind of hangs on this.. Trying to fully understand God through human thought and reckoning is always bound to

throw up more questions than it answers. But for God to be God He has to exist outside our realm of possible/impossible proven through science and thinking.

Steves's  original question to this thread is Do you believe in God. What Ive tried to explain is yes because God wants a belief based on no evidence.

Look what happened when He tried it your scientific way, a couple of thousand years back. The Jews got narked and said God didnt appear as a man walking round

doing good. Lots of proof was around then, lame walking, blind seeing, dead coming back to life. But nope, it wasnt good enough.

Cant win. But if you step outside the human realm of thought and explanation then all things become possible. Some may choose to believe in teapots in out space

I choose to believe in one almighty God. Even without proof because that's whats asked by God.

:D

If I'm not mistaken, what I have underlined, has been proved scientifically, because in the earlier days of civilisation certain human ailments were perceived to be permanent. Just like in the 18th/19th century some people had a bell fitted to their tombs.

Ok fella have a think, I don't get this bit, very simple question to all god squad guys either he can intervene or not . If he can then you can't comprehend the pain he let's happen, it's just to much to take in. If he can't then why pray. Oh and for gods sake don't fob me off with "it's gods will " or that would be the end of all serious discussion  I need a yes he can intervene or no he can't. If he can then OMG I need another scotch or three. We would then need some serious explanations for why he lets innocent members of his religious family go through the most horrific things we can't even begin to imagine. Pain and suffering beyond our comprehension he is happy with even if they or others pray for it to stop? Time for a top up

Yer going to need that top up mate.

Yep. Its a YES on the intervene question. Remember I said that God can do anything? Well there you go.

Big question is why? Or for you which Scotch to open. Im not sure I can give you an answer on this much less the answer that would stop you reaching for another double.

I can only say that if you can come out the other end of this pain and suffering still believing in God than you might stand a good chance of waking up in some place called heaven far beyond pain and suffering.

Slindborg, the answer to your question is Yes, He does.

So he can intervene and the old woman who prays for her lost cat he sorts out and the mog turns up. Prayer answered. (it was on its way back anyway) or you pray for your bad back to get sorted and he sorts that. The millions tortured and murdered pray for life but no, that's not happening. What a strange fellow you worship. Just seen this and it's so true. I may be going to Hell but at least all my friends will be there.

Its very clear people used their minds and the knowledge available to them at the time. These people spoke. This made sense to other folk at the time. Some people decides they were closer to this god than anyone else and a business was born. We call it organised religion. Money, power, politics and a couple of thousand years since.

After the First World War when thousand of temporary coffins were moved they found several that showed signs the occupants had not been dead as thought when buried. Men had woke up in coffins. Also many a woman has become pregnant while if truth be known her husband or partner is firing blanks. So that's the first to big religious issues dealt with. Walking on water is easy, just type that in you tube search, so that's three done. I must look into the water to wine that could be useful for me

I expect in the early days of civilisation they need to keep people under control & they thought if they could scare people by threatening them with all sorts of doom from an unknown entity people would 5hit themselves & toe the line.  Because people then like now, the more threats from visible people, the more they rebelled?  As civilisation has evolved & become more civilised they invented real laws to keep people in line.  My personal theory & one of the main reasons I am very doubtful regarding the existence of God & all the messiahs & their likes have just been passionate of their belief.

What about the stigma of a woman being raped so not reporting it & becoming pregnant?

On the same page, but I imagine being a Jaffa would have been a punishment from their god to be permanently childless?
