For the time being i do, well at least i will pretend to so i can keep the Mrs happy and get married in church next year.
What about hell then? If there is a heaven does that mean there is a hell?

People can believe in anything they wish if they feel it makes them happy.

People can believe in anything they wish if they feel it makes them happy and it effects / harms no-one else.
Mostly true - I cannot agree to those who believe Paedophillia or Genocide etc. Hence the addition
I got married in a CofE Church and have been baptized and confirmed in that institution / interpretation of religion.
I am very interested in mathematics and science and that leads to more questions than answers on this topic - despite what some may say (my opinion).
Would I say I am a Christian? Maybe, would I say I am a Muslim, probably not etc etc. Does it matter with whom I affiliate myself? To me nope, to others possibly. However I tend to live my life to the fundamentals that underpin most religions, that of treating people as people... irrespective of race/religion/culture/ethnicity/gender/sexual preference etc etc.
Unfortunately I work with a small number of individuals that like to make a point of their religious beliefs. Some of these have a habit of being outright contradictions to what they preach/should believe in. Do I judge them, nope - do I respect them not a personal level not really (though is that a judgement in itself?
So my belief is that though there may be some 'great creator/facilitator etc' or not, for those who are interested it maybe answered in this life, at the end of it or never at all. Does it matter?
I find hatred through religious sectarianism deplorable, especially when you consider the fundamental principles of those religions.
Anyway

No harm in this thread IMO as long as it stays mature and doesn't resort to insults. Don't open it if you aren't interested
I'm interested in watching this thread go horribly wrong, so I'm gonna have to keep opening it

This is off topic, should be able to discuss what you want in my opinion & the amount of replies in the thread shows members are willing to respond. I come from a family who suposed to be religious. One of my sisters didn't get what she wanted out of mainstream religion so now she's a member of a happy clappy brigade. Lol. Me personnaly, don't give a sh!t.

I believe in God. Problem is I don't think he believes too much in me. Oh well...
And as this is sat here in Off Topic I see no reason why this shouldnt be discussed here. Its an excellent subject to debate.

I'm 99% atheist but until I see proof either way, I don't think any human can be certain that there is or is not a god(s).

If it offends anyone click off I say. If we have a god then I don't want anything to do with him and I have a few good reasons for this over the years. I would love to chat with him tell him what I think of him then turn around and walk off to a warm place
judging by your recent list of 'near death' escapes surely you must believe somebody is watching over you! lol

If it floats your boat then so be it, for me, there is no proof either way so until I'm proven wrong I will say no.
Pretty much sentiments. I can understand some people believing and having a need to believe. But for me. I'm an engineer so I like logic. And there is no proof. So I would also have to say no.
As for this thread. I see no reason for it to be deleted. Nobody has objected. Just a few people suggesting it may get out of hand.

Many Christians I have come across have been hypocrites.
