Old Islamic/Arab saying. Tie the camel then place your faith in God. I'll assume the 3inches of bullet proof glass is akin to tieing the camel :)

So if he created the universe billions and billions of years ago, he then pops back to earth a few years ago and says I know I will get rid of all the dinosaurs that seem to have sprung up in my absence and I will throw a few humans on this rock, what the hell (sorry) was he doing all that time ? Vacation ? And if it's going to be billions of years before he shows his arse again we may as well forget him for a long time as we will be able to go visit him any place in the universe in a few thousand years if we keep evolving at the rate we are now. Just saying  (See I got my friends the dinosaurs in again ) .

You seem to be struggling with some basic concepts Gordon. You know like Almighty, Omnipotent, All Knowing  etc. :)

The almighty doesn't need to go anywhere or come back from anywhere in any physical sense. He is not made of/or limited by the things his creation is made of. There is no physical form that needs to be or travel to any one place or time...

I think this just goes back to my point of either believing that you see the whole picture and stuff just happens or believing you're not seeing the whole picture.

I don't understand why God is always portrayed as being almost human like. God as a concept is on a different level, not someone that makes things, fixes things and keeps the kids in line.

Bad things happen and make you feel bad, good things happen and make you feel good. It's all part of the journey that shapes you. You may not understand why, but that doesn't mean there isn't a reason why. Which goes back to the concept of God being all knowing.

On a slightly unrelated note, I'd like to pose a question; do you believe in destiny and predetermination or true free will and complete control and responsibility of your own fate?

My internet connection dropped out as I was trying to post (hence the edit to correct an incomplete post), maybe God doesn't want me partaking in this discussion (or maybe he's testing my resolve :D).

As you are struggling, lets keep it short and simple. No need to over complicate it :)

Celebrate Zombie Jesus weekend. Another Pagan cake covered in Christian icing to covert the masses with a little quote from a friend of mine

What's on my mind? Quite a lot. Every year at this time people harp on about being with Family and loved ones, being Christian and what this "feast" means. I find myself becoming more disillusioned by all this bullshit. Seeing the barrage of sanctimonious and pious rubbish appearing on my feed reminds me just how unlucky and unfortunate some people are. I can't think of anything other than close friends and family who have passed, some under tortuous circumstance and long illness and others as sudden and random as our weather. I don't want to be 'thankful' for what I have, to "praise the lord" for all my good graces or worship on this feast because "Christ" was resurrected. fcuk you. I want my friends and family back. I want to sit down and have a drink with them again and chat about old times. I don't want to feel guilty for missing them either. I don't need you to telling me to 'be strong, God will look after you'. Your faith is exactly that - yours. Don't impose it on others who, through no fault of their own, have absolutely no reason at all to believe in some higher being because for some of us, he sure as hell isn't "The all good" or "The all wonderful" - he's the one who ripped our lives apart and threw it together again with whatever crap was left at the end.

A huge big definite YES

He wears black with silver trimmings.

He drives a Silver Toyota Avensis up and down the A1 around Hatfield and Stevenage, with flashing blue lights

He is kind and considerate, has a forceful way without being patronising

He offers very good advice about speed limits and what side to over take on

He understands that driving licences are an essential part of every day life

If "GOD" reads this then one huge thankyou....

By that logic you could claim just about anything ever published could be fictional. Hence it doesn't actually mean anything. You need to research the content and then make your own mind up with an open mind rather than already having decided what the conclusion is...

You can research the content for ever but you will never know if one grain of it is true so you just have to believe it is and hope you haven't wasted your life following some made up religion designed for control and power over the masses at the time I suppose.

I do hope a God turns up for all the religious folk when they croak having spent a life time worshiping one.

I still think he's a bastard for sending all us average normal guys to burn in hell just because we don't pray to him
