Like i said, a lot depends on tyres, weather, clutch abuse and shift skills. (i´m a big pussy, and my shift from 1 to 2 takes 0.5 sec as the perfbox log shows. Those quartermile guys do it much faster) I´ve saved a few results from the dutch forum where the numbers come from. (will paste them here when i get home)   i also think that comparing 0-60miles versus 0-100km has a 0.1 sec difference anyway,

I suppose 0 to 100 or higher gives you a better feel for how fast a car is. That video showing the VXT next to the 300 bhp RS focus was funny, when they did a rolling start drag as the vxt just left the Ford off the mark from stand still and it still pulled away easily. I don't suppose you meet many sub 4.5 second cars on the road. Anyway I'm staying with what is it 5.5 to just under 6 sec ish NA for now
And I thought that was Chris_UK... therefore not a Tubby. ;)
Sure the one I watched was a standard turbo, I probably got it wrong as usual I just remember the Rs was trounced

Maybe we need a dragstrip day lol!

I quite fancy that for a change, bit different to watching folk go round and round  Set one up and place your bets
Yep, I'd like to see that! Can I bring my motorbike along though as the NA isn't really good at straight lines.

i think the gearboxs are the same but i had a higher rev limit (i think)

NA gearbox does have shorter gearing than the VXT (though not as short as the 4.17FD box) and if all things were exactly equal, would accelerate quicker than a VXT on it's standard box.

Herman (the spexige owner called manus over here) hosts a gathering every few years to run a perfbox day.

He lives in a quite part of The Netherlands where do can do those runs on a nice long flat dike.

Maybe somebody on here knows a nice flat private road also :)

Have you got the numbers to a higher speed (ie. 100mph)?

I tried to organize one at Melbourne near Elvington, either last year or the year before, but I think the weather wasn't great so it didn't happen.

The dike was a public road with cyclists, walkers and sometimes other traffic.

160km would have been plain dangerous.

Is Nev's fully finished now? He put the saab engine in didnt he? That would be good to see however, maybe some grounding issues 😉

5 to 6K NA´s are the bottom of the market, and do not bring 9K just by slapping on an SC.

Not any more they are not.  Most are selling for this price and only pristine ones are selling at £7-8k.

As an FYI chaps, I was offered two SC cars when I was looking for mine, both at around the £8.5k-£9k mark (the more expensive one was that price with hard top if I remember correctly).   In the end I paid around £8.5k for a car with 50k miles, recent chains on the 2.2, Nitrons, Compos with R1R, uprated toelinks, fezz heater, carbon ears, carbon binnacle, ali rad etc - though worth noting it doesn't run a chargecooler set up so not the full £3.5k investment from an NA as such.   When I started looking I didn't expect to find any SC cars for less than £10k. Obviously a mint one with low miles is a different story.   G

Isn't the paintwork on your car in desperate need of a full respray? If so it's not really a fair comparison. If your car had been offered for sale as a modified NA in need of a respray is value would be closer to £5k. So the SC has added a fair chunk of value still.. What was wrong with the other sc cars you are offered? High mileage? Cat c?

Until I remove the wrap I can't confirm. AFAIK the front clam and doors are perfect. The rear clam has osmosis, the extent of which I can't confirm. If I wasn't doing major bodywork alterations I expect a quick respray/blow over of the rear clam might suffice. Certainly the car doesn't need a full respray. The other cars were the same, some osmosis. Neither were particularly high miles and both were cat clear. The reason I chose the car I did was because of the value of the stuff on it - either to me or to sell. Worth noting that apart from the stuff listed before it also had lotus 4chan abs and few other bits. I still think that a non cat na with chains just done, fsh, nitrons, compos, r1rs, lotus abs, carbon bits, Ali rad, fezz heater etc would be way more than £5k regardless of osmosis. Prob more like 6-7k I would say? Just my IMO though.

Decent car with reasonable mileage seems to be £6.5k (advertise for around £7k). Mint / really well maintained upwards of £7k.

Really surprised you got a SC car with those bits for £8.5k.  Was it bought in the winter or a desperate seller?  Not seen many up for that price that didn't need work.
