This is looking like a proper Euro VX meet.

Will you have a car?

This is my aim.

If I can find an o/s headlight

Here you go Nick, French Toll Tag thing to save the toll booth aggro in the VX.

Thanks Matt just hard a quick look said it would cost about 62 in tolls one way, so in all 62x 2 ( assuming I come back the same way) 6 annual fee+5 one month Fee 135 and less hassle

Toll Tag offer via Eurotunnel a bit cheaper still

So tell me if i have this right. Using the euro tunnel offer you save the normal 10 Euro application fee but for i month travelling you still need to pay

20 Euros refundable deposit

6 Euros Annual fee

5 euro Active usage fee

plus the usual tolls?

Makes the Dart Charge account look a bargain!

I think I'll let the wife shove the credit card in the machine.

20euros refundable deposit (one off until you give it in then refunded) 6 euros per year 5 euros admin charge for each month that you use it Detailed Invoice is sent to you mid month and paid via direct debit at the end of that month. IMO well worth it for the convenience, eecially if you travel more than once a year. Some of the normal queues we a few minutes long during our return trip last year, with the tag we just sailed through.

But you are assuming you have a passenger Paul! for those of us travelling alone its well worth it. And you get to drive straight through the toll without stopping.

Assuming you don't approach too quickly. There's also always that slight doubt at the first toll booth you encounter as to whether it will still work.    I'd pay double what they charge for it, for the convenience of not having to stop and mess about with sorting tickets/cards/cash, even if I had Jo in the car with me. I took it with us earlier this year for our French holiday, even though we had a French hire car, let alone the VX. So much easier. I've even got one for the M6 Toll.

Na...good bit of exercise and stretch of the legs when doing long journeys.

Yup, you're quite right. After all, those motorways, cars, ferries and planes you use for your 6 annual holidays really haven't improved your lifestyle, have they? :P

As I said guys. Exercise, get those joints moving. At our age you need to take every opportunity. :jump:  I am often alone on these trips too.

Exercise in very short spurts like that, without proper preparation is worse for you than no exercise and more likely to injure you. Likely to infuriate the queue of traffic behind you as well as you strain a muscle trying to fall out of the car to get around to the ticket machine. I'll get Jo to send some details of the toll tag to Linda via facebook and see if she eschews the idea of convenience. ;)

Nah, let him struggle 😛, particularly with the possible effect of the machine chewing or rejecting the CC. 😄😄😄 I like to see Linda having a go at him😎😎😎😎

Techie...the authority on exercise. My you must have changed since the last time I saw you

Did French Frolic on my own last year and coped fine with the tolls. We also did Euro trip right across to Hungary a few years ago, and down through Spain and Portugal before that. Oh and Lisbon to Algarve last month. I'm fine with the old fans honed and cheap way. Thanks for your concern though thumbsup

I might be in trouble here all, it appears I might be changing fleets to B787 later in the year straight through the timing of the Frolic, course will take some months with classroom, sims and route flying. Wondering what to do, call Paul and see if I can swap for a number of single day events, hang on and hope or try to sell it? don't fancy loosing £900 I didn't see a reserve list

Would be a shame if you have to cancel but I guess working towards that retirement date comes first You've just missed the cut off point for only losing 5% but not too much of a penalty at the moment. Extract from LoT FF page below. There is a small reserve list, I believe the Knobs off here is on it "Refunds we will refund cancellations less 5% admin fee if cancelled by 1/2/2015, 10% admin fee will be charged 1/2/2015-1/5/2015, 20% admin fee charged 1/5/2015-1/6/2015. No refunds after 1/6/2015." Given that the 10% penalty is there until 1st May you could leave it until you are certain of the training programme. Other alternative would be to see if PG would allow either part of or the whole amount to be credited against other LoT events

I am chasing up with the company to see what is happening, at the moment don't seem to have the foggiest idea, not good for planning. I was thinking of stealing to Paul sooner rather than later as if he is amenable to swap for single dates I don't want to loose the best ones, which for me at the moment would mean booking early in the year. Yep Longhaul again, should be easier as a CPT rather than FO this time.
