Are there any more details on the work done? IMO A cast manifold is a must at 400bhp. But at least it could give us some dimension and physical placement reference data :)

I have a welded manifold and it has been 100% good. Mine was mated to a 1 CM flange, is made of 2mm thick bends of grade 321 (Chinese!) steel. If you make an exhaust manifold from 304 or 304L it will be doomed as it won't like the heat. 321 or ideally Inconel and fat pipes is what will make it last IMO.

thumbsup What engine did you bolt it onto? Who did the welding? A welded setup is fine if you can fine a good weld shop with the required expertise and precision.

If you go cheap on the metal, you really do need to brace/support the turbo so the manifold isn't really doing any structural work.

Cheap or thin wall steel will burn through too.  Inconel FTW if you go welded.

The manifold is mounted onto a Z20LEx block. It was welded by a well known guy in the Vauxhall world called Jamie at Nortech. You can read about it and see some pics here: https://sites.google.../07---update-16

@Nev been reading your blog :) nice work! Here a link to a 9-3 turbo conversion I came across http://www.chevycoba...ctory-kits-866/ Looks compact but is it compact enough.

Cause sombody "me " made a mistake that the easyiest option to get more Power and get it road approved was to buy a kit With TUV..... since the supercharger did not have tuv papers.... My biggest mistake was not to read the F..King Norwegian rules to get the vx approved for road use...... So a tuv certified convertion tubo kit will never be road worthy in Norway unless I get a New vehcile tuv test, full clyclus test for emition tests, brake test etc etc... witch will set me back 6 grand :drink: :ffs:

We were young lol.....

Got myself a turbo now and gonna check available space irt the oem manifold. Then use the OEM manifold as reference and weld my own.

From AFI

Hi Stephen, Thanks for the message, apologize for the delay! I missed this message somehow! Our kits are about 24" wide. We could certainly, however, modify the kit to fit this car. -Shaun

I am willing to prototype!!! I don't have a vx220 but if someone is willing to supply their car, I'm willing to put something together. I don't get on here much but I will try and keep up to speed with this thread. PM me if people are genuinely interested.

A propper manifold will be the most essential part. The rest can be easly made up.

Right now I'm gonna make/weld my own manifold.

my tubular manifold i made was just going to my local plumbing place and buying schedule 40 bends and 1 metre of straight, cost me less than £50 in materials and its 3mm thick, welds really nice, its what a few endurance turbo guys use in the US and if welded right shouldnt break, for me it was a fit and forget solution.

What psi are you running it at? Does it come with a tap?
