I've driven a few of them, mk1 and mk2. Really awful cars, the handling is dire and with the added weight, they're slower overall than the 172.182.
The clio sport is a much better car, but it doesn't have the wow factor which the V6 has.

I said exactly this and was shot down in flames. Unsurprisingly by a Clio V6 owner. Why some people can't just enjoy their car for what it is, and not an ISA on wheels is beyond me!Very over priced IMO. Reckon the modern classic bubble is going to burst in the next few years and the V6 will be one of the first casualties. VX's will be fine because they are so undervalued at the moment. Doesn't stop me wanting a mk2 V6 though.

A limited production 'project' vehicle... A one in a million car. It may not be the ultimate drivers machine, but like a Lotus Carlton... It's value is more than the some of its parts. What is the point of it?I think your missing the point with the Clio v6 Gedi

The Lotus Carlton was by far the most powerful and quick model in the range. Renault let the weight stunt the car's performance which is a shame; 300+bhp would have transformed it.A limited production 'project' vehicle... A one in a million car. its a mad car, a large car company to put a v6 engine in the back of what is normally a shopping car it does not happen anymore which is why there are worth what they are

It's a mad concept. I'd disagree that it's a mad car though, whereas Nissan have the idea of 'mad car' with the Juke-R.its a mad car, a large car company to put a v6 engine in the back of what is normally a shopping car it does not happen anymore which is why there are worth what they are

the v6 was over 10 years ago though and no where near the cost of a Juke-R, either way its great to see manufactures pushing away from the norm

The Juke-R is not even in production so probably not the best example by me. What I mean is not going at it half baked, which is what I think the V6 was.the v6 was over 10 years ago though and no where near the cost of a Juke-R, either way its great to see manufactures pushing away from the norm

I don't get the appeal, they took a Clio Sport and made it heavier, slower and destroyed the handling. Then they charged more for it....

I worked in the Swedish factory for TWR where the Mk1 Clio was made, those were some fun times. We had at least 1 Clio a month returned to the factory due to being crashed before they were loaded on to the ship at the docks. I think the drivers likes to have some fun! The handling was considered a little suspect, but the car was rushed in to production. I believe one journalist had a very big off, possibly resulting in a broken neck at the car launch. This didn't result in Mercedes "Elk test" feedback in the press as I believe he might have taken on too much of the liquid hospitality beforehand.. Although don't quote me on that, that was just hearsay!! The Mk2 had a longer wheelbase to tone it down a little, and some more power (TWR always said they could get more power from the engine, but Renault refused for the Mk1) The V6 has something in common with the VX, bodywork was made by Sotira in France. There were some pretty big issues with this initially resulting in lots of delivery delays on the Mk1. I have a soft spot for the V6... I am sure I will scratch the itch one day, although the seating position was awful in the Renault. Mk1 for me, because of my personal history with the car. We had some Renault Sport spiders as test mules... that car I would love to own, but they are crazy money, zero depreciation motoring there!
How do you think the Renault Sport spider compares to the VX ? Seems that recent reviews compare it more favourably to the Elise when the original reviews put the Elise way ahead. For me it just seems to be the rarity / exclusivity card that makes it more appealing to some people now, when really it lacks the clever engineering and greater development of the Elise / VX.
