Do you have power at the pump?  Just wondering if the pump is fooked.  If the relays melted and the pump just ran and ran it could have knackered it.

Yep, we put 12v through the relay harness directly last week and the pump primes and pressurises the system. I've tried different relays too. A friend is coming over again with a multi metre in a bit. Bored now.

Are the pins bent in relay holder or wires come uncrimped

it does sound like the ecu has been fried by the melted relays  :(

That's exactly what happened to mine.   The relays melted and took the ECU with it.

If you can't connect to the ecu by the port either it's a clear sign.

Borrow GL's ecu to see if it's that and if it goes, then buy it off of him.

Pins seem fine, connections are tight. I have swapped the ECU today G-Bob, but the scanguage also just still says "connecting"

Have you swapped the chip in the keys and made sure there isn't another one nearby?

Sounds like wires to ECU. 999 is Stack failing to see ECU and message from Scanguage seems to confirm that. If you completely unplug the ecu is there any difference?

The other check is of course putting your ECU on another car to fully eliminate your ECU as the problem.

With the ECU disconnected, the stack still reads 999 and scanguage won't connect. Exactly if the ECU is plugged in. So the stack is not talking to the ECU, but would this affect the fuel pump priming? Does the circuit go through the stack at start up?

Yes, ecu controls the fuel pump. My guess would be some of the wires in the loom have melted as well when the relays went. Time for a multimeter and some soul destroying checking of wires :)

Sooo, after 6 hours of soul destroying multi meter-ing.....its inconclusive. We tested a variety of things - headlines for the people who actually know about this: Green Pink wire into ECU relay has 0.006v when ignition on, and around 0.2v when stater button pressed Tested green/pink wire back to ECU and it has continuity Tested white/violet wire for fuel pump relay to ECU and it has continuity We tried by passing the fuel cut off switch We did however manage to get the heap running : Ignition Off Brown relay bypassed Direct 12v feed to : 12V to Pin 86 0v to Pin 85 relay had to be in place Ignition turned Fuel pump primed Stater pressed Car fired and ran (My new tullet is quite antisocial it turns out!!!!) temp back to normal briefly Scanguage connected fine When feed to relay removed from 12v supply.....car turns off. I would add that we also tested the relays to ensure they both 'fired' when fed 12v. What do we think? Apart from 'what a ballache'......

Okeydokey, another quick update...

New brown relay - Makes no difference.....

Until power directed applied, stack still reads 999 and ScanGuage will not connect

I have stripped the loom as far as i can in the front - no damage

I have stripped the loom back to the connectors in the back - No Damage

I have cleaned the Connectors and ensured no dust /dirt - Still nothing....

I wanted to send it to BOT this week to get it back on the road but don't really want to dump it on there in its state AND not starting!

Any other last wisdom out there? think i should get an AutoElectrician out?

GJ
