Hey guys! I need your help! Today I changed the downpipe (?) to one without a cat. Right after, I tried the car to listen to the sound, and about five seconds after I went off the gas, I heard a quite loud bang. Then, I ran on 3 cylinders. I don't know if the bang had anything to do with the loss of one cylinder or not. First I thought it was unburned fuel that ignited, and maybe it was, but anyway, now I have an issue. Any ideas what might be wrong?

Thanks

Andreas

Have you removed the lambda sensor? If so have you turned it off in the ecu (assuming dutch software)? Not sure why it would drop a cylinder either way, Any error codes?

I have both lambda sensors in place, but I haven't turned it off in the ECU yet. (Have got dutch). But I didn't get any error codes, and as you say, as far as I can see it shouldn't drop a cylinder..

Wonder if you did some damage when the coolant ran low ? Might me time for a compression test and have valves etc checked Good luck

Maybe you've bumped something while changing the pipe. Check your spark plugs, reseat coil pack and check wires and plugs around the engine bay.

Thanks for the advices guys, I think it might be the coil pack, but not sure. I have driven for quite some time since I had low coolant levels, but I going to do a compression test. Thanks for the tips!

Unlikely to be the coil pack. It's wasted spark so one coil for two cylinders, you'd be running on two if it's a coil has failed.

Last conversion I did, the injector plugs weren't sitting properly and some material needed cutting away. I suggest you start there.

Actually I forgot to say that it doesn't necessarily sound like it's running on three cylinders, it might as well be two. I saw that there was two coils in the coil pack: would misfunction of one of these cause an unbalanced engine?

I have found the problem! My coil pack is broken! So should be an easy fix. But I only have access to a coil pack for a Z22YH. Is this going to work on a Z22SE? Would appreciate a quick answer, as I need to order now :)

Thanks
