Zoidberg <- Holy crap Zoobeef, your name autocorrects to Zoidberg. That's awesome. Anyway, I could definitely manage the service and probably cam belt though it'd be a new one on me. Basically, I've asked Liam to give it an inspection and he said he might as well do the service while he's there. I think a cam belt change from a reputable place would also put a buyer at ease. Also, I'm going to get the geo done while he has it. It tracks straight but it's been set up with the steering wheel ever so slightly off centre. It's bloody infuriating. Same use <- Sadly your autocorrect is less cool. It's a Larini system. The tail pipes are 2.5" each. Is that the bit you're asking about?

Can anyone confirm that I've been a complete donut. Fitting all the stuff to the car was a complete PITA as every stud or bolt snapped and had to be replaced. I finally got it back on the road last week and had my first proper outing today down to Bruntingthorpe. I know people say Larini systems are loud but I was pretty shocked at how loud. I've already discovered a balls up in that I forgot to order the pre cat down pipe to make it a full system. However, I'm looking at pics of the secondary sports cat I ordered and the part I've been sent and they look different. From the pic of all the bits on the floor on the last page, can someone confirm that I've been sent a secondary decat pipe as opposed to the secondary sports cat I paid good money for? I suspect this is why it's so bloody loud too. Thanks.

Looks like a straight through decat pipe to me. I've never seen a larini in real life so possibly not qualified to comment.

Straight throughy pretty much sums it up. I really don't know how I didn't twig before. There's no pic of the Tubby decat on ES but my guess is that this is it.

Mines got a cat after the flexi. A sound test last time out gave 101db. I think i will get working on a quieter system this winter.

Bit of an update.

Spent the weekend removing the decat pipe from the blue one. Have refitted the original secondary cat and the Larini backbox is now a lot more civilised. Hoping to get the sports cat and primary decat in the next few days so I can finally get it mapped to stage 2.

Got the silver one back from MMG last week after the cam belt and water pump replacement. It also had a full service while it was there. Hate handing over wads of cash for a car that feels no different but at least I've now got peace of mind. Liam also suggested replacing the engine mounts so I did that this weekend, gave the whole thing a clean and actually got it advertised on here and Pistonheads. Has felt like a hell of a journey and my bank balance is destroyed but it's nice to have it sorted.

Advertisements for it are here

and here

Must admit though. Advertising it on here is not something I'd repeat.

Right, I'm in need of a bit of help. The primary decat pipe and sports cat have now arrived. After the rain stopped, I summoned a small amount of enthusiasm, put it on stands and got the undertrays off (again). Went to remove the heat shielding from the primary cat, found the bolts securing it, cried and came back inside to have a beer and watch the bake off. I've just about come to terms with the fact I'm going to have to do it but still don't know how. The 8mm hex bolt looks awkward but achievable. I see that the torx headed bolt which secures it to the block is obstructed by the sump, surrounded by a pipe and the bracket is then folded over the head to make access as difficult as possible. God only knows how you get to the other one. Any handy tips out there?

Hi are you talking about the nimbus type shield - If so you do not need to remove - when doing my precat I Just removed the bolts on the lower section (1 x hex 2 x torx) just used a shortish extension for the one blocked by the sump this allowed me to pull the lower shield away slightly to give more room

managed it no problem !!!!

Thanks for this. Wasn't quite as bad as I thought it looked in the end. The trickier bit was actually removing the v-band clamp. Got the pre-cat off last night and have started fitting the system now. The nights are definitely drawing in as I only get a couple of hours light after work. Desperately trying to get it back together for the peaks meet on Sunday and a remap from MMG next week.
