Had a look around them when the clam first came off and they look alright but I will have a closer look.

Will see if I can make it for a look.

I just seem to be adding more to the "to do" list every day.

Another update.

Inlet manifold off and started stripping the cam chain off looks like it may have been out a couple of teeth 🤔.

Any recommendations on how to lock the crank pulley? Posted ImagePosted Image

In gear, handbrake on, or someone else presses the brake.

You can poke a drill bit through the hole on the pulley any turn until it jams against the webs on the cover.

Ideally you do it before undoing the tensioner or cams though!!

the chain can slip and bend a valve if you try and undo the crank pulley bolt by locking the cam sprockets with a bar, some are extremely tight !

I use a home made crank sprocket locking tool or if the starter motor is out I use the z22se flywheel locking tool

Going to try timing it up and sticking it back together and using the starter motor method.

Big bar now ordered...

Just been out.... Improvised and locked it, the pulley is now off along with the chain cover.

The question now is do I send back the 2ft breaker bar I just ordered 🤔

Why do you think the cam timing is out??

The coloured links will only line up once in so many revolutions...

When comparing to the TIS guide the inlet looked slightly retarded, the angle the picture was taken at doesn't help.

That was a right pain in the arse. Not really difficult just really annoying.

Well the chains are off and the new waterpump is in place.

Does the servo line run down the passenger side?

Also any point in removing the balancer shafts while I'm in here? Posted Image

You need the engine out to remove the balancer shafts.

Do you though? think I could work a way around it. It would be the pushing the bearing in that would be the difficult part.

Is it giving you that much more of a vibration?

If there is someone around with them removed and you could just sit in it with the enigne running, you could easily decide if it is for you or not.

And besides the vibrations; I did not see a real world power win with them removed...
