I think that once you go supercharged, the step ahead is so big anyway that this mod is neglectable.

I think the main benefit is the reduced inertia.

A claimed 10bhp here but original GM document link no longer available:
https://z22se.co.uk/...te-10-bhp.6809/

they never said at which point in the rpm scale that the 10 hp was measured

If there is someone around with them removed and you could just sit in it with the enigne running, you could easily decide if it is for you or not.

I have never noticed a huge difference in vibrations after the balancer delete, however adding upgraded cams certainly makes the biggest difference in vibrations and that can be felt on an otherwise standard engine (with balancer shafts)

I have to admit i have uprated cams, and had to put the idle at 900, so that is also not helping.

On Nipper my idle is 1100 and even then the engine doesn't turn over steadily. When I'm idling at traffic lights etc I get strange stares from people whilst I get a "nice" tingling sensation in my legs and back. ;)

I have balence delete and the vibrations were not noticeable (engine balanced) but the poor idle with cams is very noticeable and I had to remove the poly inserts in the engine mounts to improve vibration.

I also think the main effect is like adding a lightweight flywheel rather than improved power at the wheels.

Tonight's update. Balancer chain on and engine loom off.

Decided against the shaft delete I'm only aiming for around 250bhp. If I go for more power in the future they will be out.Posted Image

Replacement sourced.

Cam chain in and timed up. Hopefully I'll get some time tomorrow to get the alternator off and start to bolting the good bits on :)

Only a small update from this weekend.

Alternator off for modifying

ZZP dual pass end plate fitted

Y piece ordered as the 90° T piece supplied is a bit to extreme of an angle for my liking. Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

A plastic bend, to bring the lower pipe round at full bore, might be more useful. There’s not a lot of room between those connections and the bulkhead.
