A standard NA is mega quick compared to an Elise S2 as you are aware of, hence super charging your Elise to try and keep up.Cheers Jon needs to be a Elise but thanks anyway something may come up in the future that is mega quick 😉Might have a nice cheap exige S factory car on the way. Fit the standard airbox to virtually eliminate SC noise..
I will have to try that. Does anyone have a spare na airbox for me to buy to test? I have a large cone filter at the moment & if it doesn't lose too much power the mod may help me at the quieter circuits.
Is there a NA airbox mod thread? I can't find it...
i have been working on an airbox to fit back where it originally went, as my ECU and charge cooler pump are there it required some modding.
However during testing, there was NO reduction in power, and honestly you would not know the car is supercharged it cut all the wine, and that is with half the box cut off. Also for reasons unknown to me, it made the exhaust quitter too???

The size of the NA airbox and filter looks like it is well up to ~300bhp, especially with some removal of the lower half of it..
Did you just use a section of intake hose to go from the airbox to the throttle body Stuwy, or do the angles not work..?

because the angle of the throttle body is pointing down on the m62 charger the biggest challenge has been connecting the air box to the TB.
with the airbox almost halved fitting it in the space is not really an issue anymore, needs to be placed from the wheel arch though.
to mount it I drilled a hole though a superfluous piece of plastic and cable tied it to the chassis upright that connects the rear sub frame to the roll over bar.
once I am happy with it (been in and out a few times) I will post up pics of what I did and how, needless to say due to my complete "that will do" attitude and the fact I know nothing means it wont be acceptable for more people
"does it work, yes, does it look pretty, no... I could spend more time making it look much better or spend more cash tiding it up.. fcuk it. It works"

Cheers.
I was just planning on mounting it in the standard location, with the standard brackets, and opening up the lower half to ensure plenty air flow (chopping a big chunk out basically)..

the issue with the standard positioning for me is my charge cooler pump and ECU are in the way.. also the air box points up and the TB points down so matching up is harder, off the standard bracket you can mount it lower and even spin it round if you cut enough from the bottom

Cool. Both of those are not a issue for me, as they're located elsewhere, but will have a trial fit and see..

I really doubt it TBH, based on my and other people's experience. I would be willing to bet that 2 panels and larger inlet pipework would yield power. Almost for free too, worth trying it like I did with a home made contraption. The size of the NA airbox and filter looks like it is well up to ~300bhp, especially with some removal of the lower half of it..

I don't have experience of using one in this application, but doesn't it use the same filter size as the turbo, and therefor DH intake box?
I think the primary restriction on the standard NA setup is probably the weird flattened TB - airbox pipe.

NA airbox is bigger and better flowing than the turdo's. It's from a V6 Vectra.
