Rear wheels are too wide as well and look like some kind of Carlos Fandango special (for those old enough to remember the advert). Would be much better if they were an inch narrower with offsets suitably adjusted. ETA: For those who don't remember:

They look great, but they're heavy and handle like a bag of sh*t in comparison to a 16/17 setup

ATC for show cars, TD's for track cars

Tell that to JimmyJJ who won Time Attack running them or Lee who by all reports has one of the best handling track VXs out there and has 2 sets of DTCs (which is just greedy). And if you search threads on here you'll find there's barely any difference between the DTCs and TDs in weight after someone (Crabash I believe) actually weighed them side by side.

Edit: They were specifically developed for track use.

                Front    Rear

Diameter 17"        17"

Width      7.5"       9.0"

Offset      ET20     ET30

PCD        5x110    5x110

Weight     8.1 Kg   9.3 Kg

They're still too wide at the rear and look too crammed into the rear arches on every VX I've seen, except where the arches have been fcuked with. There's just no need for 9" wheels unless you want to be running 265 or wider tyres.

All the German speedster owners swear by them. Surely they would be better for track given the extra rubber you can get in contact with the Tarmac.

There's nothing stopping you going up a size or two in tyres on TD's and probably the standard wheels for that matter, if it's just wider rubber you want. And you can't do much more than that before running into rubbing problems. You do gain a bit wider track with the 9" wheels pushed right out like that though, I guess.

Interestingly they do an 18" x 8,5 which will take a 225/40/18 or a 245/35/18 tyre. I've asked if it will fit the VX.

Anyone ever tried an 18 / 17 combo on a VX before a la Ebora?

Careful, it'll cost you more than you think. Bought mine 7 months ago at £760 and some Toyo T1R's fitted at £420. The problem was, I thought it looked a bit monster truck/radio controlled car like so had to buy some coilovers to make it look right. Standard ride height (Bilsteins) http://s1093.photobu...tml?sort=3&o=48 http://s1093.photobu...tml?sort=3&o=49 Lowered 20mm rear, 30mm front (Gaz Gold II's) http://s1093.photobu...tml?sort=3&o=12 http://s1093.photobu...html?sort=3&o=9 Hope these work. It's a bit dirty in the 2nd lot of pics. Trying to do this from my phone and am half asleep. Will sort tomorrow from a laptop if the links don't work.

Its hard to tell from those Angles but the standard pics look ok. I get what your saying though because if they don't look right then it's another 800 quid for some nitron street series 2's!
Perhaps this will give a better idea of what it looks like at standard ride height. http://i1093.photobu...zpsq8nqlcdt.jpg

Ironic given they were designed as a track wheel, hence the disclaimers to satisfy TUV regs.

Not true in my experience. They are heavier than TD1.2s in the common sizes we use, but still lighter than standard wheels / tyres, compo's, and Speedlines...

The main reason I like them is the rear wheel shape and size - gives the car a far more mature look, wider / lower look, and only looks odd if you stick on 255-section tyres. IMO.

Cheers Steve. I think the TDs in 18/17 look bloody perfect on that pic:

Heard back re the DTCs in 18" - they will only make them if there are 8 wheels minimum order :(

Bar steward. Now you see why something had to be done. Getting the appearance right also means sacrificing your spine on the roads round Derby.

I had a set of these 18 months ago before I had the nitrons and sold them as it looked like a jacked up hot wheels car.. Lovely wheels though, borderline tempted with some black ones from the group buy now the would fit in my arches properly.. Lack of 205/45/17 595RSR option puts me off though :(

I saw the pics of yours and while I think the sizes work it was the style of wheel that didn't float my boat. You have pm re your DTCs :)
