I dunno...i haven't got a clue so just asked someone who seems to know a little about this sort of stuff. But there again I could listen to a load of random blokes on some forum or other I suppose

I run black DTC's in the 17" set with 215/40/17 RSR's front and 235/40/17 RSR's rear. Car is stock height and no rubbing. 9J is needed to run decent wide tires.
DTC's with wider RSR's are lighter then stock wheels. Car drive and feel is a bit better then stock but not that much. More grip due to wider tires is a big plus.
I drive road only so no track experience with them.
Looks are good but a bit lowering in the front is needed:

Define decent wide tyres? An 8J wheel will happily fit a 225/235/245 wide tyre and won't look like it's sticking too far out of the wheelarch like 9J with that offset does. 8.5J would probably be the ideal fit, look better and still have more than enough headroom on those to run tyres too wide for the space available in the arches.9J is needed to run decent wide tires.

Didn't Mike have GT hubs to solve the roll centre/lowering issue?

@Techie: That is the thing of course... what is wide?
The 235 RSR's are 250ish wide irl and are a perfect fit for the 9J rim. A 225/235 would indeed be ok on a 8J, 245 on a 8,5J I agree.
When running 255 territory (or 235/245 semi's who are wider..) a 9J is my choice.

Loving them in black. Think that's made my mind up on colour choice for the group buy.

As does significantly lowering it, doesn't seem to stop people though.

This is one of the reasons I went Gt hubs so I could keep my atc 17 fronts :-) but 16 would still be better .As does significantly lowering it, doesn't seem to stop people though.Matt Bentley says 17 inch fronts "Makes the front roll centre worse. 16's better for handling."

sorry to be pedantic here but running 17 fronts wont make it worse than standard if the standard is 17.. I know what is meant but a poor choice of words, the correct phrase should be "16 fronts will bring the center of roll down"
just to point out that at this stage I have no idea what that means.. i'll guess that its to do with weight over the center of gravity moving about but meh
