Stupid import tax and it's a shame the pound is so crap against the dollar ATM. I've got a rough idea on how much you have spent and it's scary to think that I won't be far behind 😂

I would have thought that that girdled ZZP block was already honed??

(makes me rethink my 2.3 block costs, even with those expensive German pistons...)

When I'm finally buying them from your specialist... And costs relative compared to f.i. Wiseco's, but you can not really compare those with the Mahle forgings.

(I'm seriously lacking time to do anything on my car, even it's yearly MOT/APK is now 1 month overdue... :( )

Does the ZZP block have new liners? Just thought that if the block is faced after the deck plate is fitted then the liners don't have the 3 thou proud of the deck.

No, that's a Gen 3 block which has cast-in liners and these are flush with the deck.

@ Ultimate; When I looked into these last year, a set of custom bore Wiseco / Diamond Ecotc pistons was about $700. So with import VAT and shipping you're at 900+, but all from 2618 alloy. I prefer to have the Mahle forgings.

Are they LDS coated liners?

Hence my question above.

According to Lee he orderd; ZZP Girdled Gen3 Block 2.4 l

And a gen3 has the cast-in liners.

No idea on "LDS" coating and how that should look, but my 88mm gen 3 bores look pretty normal.

So this is a gen3 block with the braces milled out and a girdle fitted! Gosh. I wonder how else the gen3 block differs.

I don't doubt that, just seems odd to machine out the bracing to fit a deck plate. The gen3 block must have other sneaky benefits!

It's a thermal spray coating, usually applied to linerless aluminium blocks to increase durabilit, however wouldn't be applied to cast in liners so not applicable here

Great, makes me chuckle just thinking about your first drive. I hope you remap it before you drive it anywhere near hard.
