you might consider the high input shaft speed and how the gearbox will manage with that

7525rpm is about 24.6 m/s mean piston speed with that long crank throw, the same piston speed as 7800rpms does with a 2.2 crank.
(Was talking to Rob this morning and as the 2.0's can rev to 8575rpm to achieve those velocities, he's going to up his limit a bit further.
)
OBDtuner pro supports revs to 8700rpm

I would argue the rod ratio and piston+rod weight are just as important to calculate forces on the parts , versus increasing risk of failure at more rpm.
Some additional numbers for our Ecotec engines (copy/pasted from US Ecotec site): OEM ecotecs: 2.4 - LE5 Ecotec: bore = 88mm compression height = 28mm wrist pin diameter = 20mm stroke = 98mm rod length = 143.7386mm rod ratio = 1.46:1 B207 / LSJ Ecotec: bore = 86mm compression height = 30.86mm wrist pin diameter = 23mm stroke = 86mm rod length = 145.5mm rod ratio = 1.69:1 Z22SE / L61 Ecotec: bore = 86mm compression height = 26.75mm wrist pin diameter = 20mm stroke = 94.6mm rod length = 146.5mm rod ratio = 1.54:1
Ecotec Hybrid options: 2.1 litre Ingredients: - 2.4 LE5 block - B207 / LSJ crank - Custom 88mm pistons - Maybe custom Rods bore = 88mm stroke = 86mm rod length = ? rod ratio = ? (use longer Z22SE/L61 rods for higher rod/stroke ratio, but piston compression height is an issue) 2.3 litre Ingredients: - 2.4-LE5 block - Z22SE / L61 rods - Z22SE / L61 crank - Custom pistons (Identical to L61 with 88mm bore) bore = 86mm compression height = 26.75mm wrist pin diameter = 20mm stroke = 94.6mm rod length = 146.5mm rod ratio = 1.54:1 The crank journals and rod journals across all variants are the same dimensions, so swapping cranks is possible. Assuming you take into account that the 2.0 crank needs to use an 2.0 8-bolt flywheel. LE5 and L61 use the same 6-bolt flywheel. No OEM pistons can be swapped from one ecotec onto another OEM rod: - 2.4-LE5 wrist pin is 20mm, but taper slot for rod/piston interface - Z22SE/L61 wrist pin is 20mm, straight slot for rod/piston interface - B207/LSJ wrist pin is 23mm, straight slot for rod/piston interface

Yup, only my valvetrain is not with the hydro adjusters and DBilas springs. But should be good to 8K according DBilas.
I'm on LSJ ecu + HPTuners and my tables are maxed out at 8192rpm. Injectors will be an issue too with those rpm's.

Hi Lee,
Are you installing hydraulic or mechanical lifters?
Also, what is the limiting factor/item on RPM please - is it piston speed?
Hydraulic lifters
Limiting factor Vocky said is crank

Don't think there is a forged 2.4 crank available on the market. Vocky's 2.2 forged Eagle crankshaft is already a very rare item...
Read somewhere that GM rated the LE5 crank to 500Hp, but for sure you can up that number a little in a light VX.

Aren't the Eagle cranks made to order, so a 2.4 is as easy as a 2.2?

Eagle cranks are no longer available for the L61 / z22se
Which is why the 'stolen' Eagle crank stood out like a sore thumb, bloke was a dickhead to think it would go un-noticed.

I take it the stolen one was located?

cannot prove 'beyond reasonable doubt' it's the same crank

Luke was going to do it for a while ,i just ordered bits before him, as the wife said it was ok so i needed to order things before she changed her mind lol
Got a few things delivered but still waiting for the pallet to come from the USA , gets complicated with big items you need to get a customs broker etc to help clear goods and i will have to pick it up from Airport or get another big delivery bill
the costs are getting higher
