I'll try and get some pics up soon but some progress has been made at least. I've been going round in circles a little bit as normal with the car as to what purpose I really want it to serve. I almost decided to sell it and buy a Porsche or something similar but then the truth is I know that wont give me the same raw driving experience. So todays plan(as it changes daily).... carry on with the repair of the front end but then try and make the interior 'slightly' nicer to be in. I've purchased a carpet kit and some Probax seats from batman, along wit having a couple of bits re trimmed it should feel a bit better inside. Other jobs that have been done or under way.....

  • Fit Race TCS system, I've fitted and tested all of the engine side. Just need to wire in the wheel speed sensors now and mount the unit
  • Front end goes for paint and front grill cut outs tomorrow
  • Brakes - for now I've just had delivered the boat anchor EP Ultimax 308mm disks and 10mm spacers. Hoping that these coupled with the new Hel brake lines and SRF fluid will cure my 3-4 lap brake fade issue! I will most likely change these again when i have the suspension refreshed.
  • New Larger splitter has been made from plywood, I'm taking this to hopefully have a mold made to make it in Fibreglass or Carbon
  • Move the WI tank into the sill as per my old car and refit the speaker panel to make the interior look more complete
  • Get my new Ali header tank powder coated satin black and fit
  • Powder coat intake pipe satin black
  • I've had an addition to the exhaust system made. A road pipe and a track pipe - track pipe requires Ceramic coating to protect the clam. Ill just wrap the road one to save some money.
  • Heat wrap all light wiring to prevent damage from the heat
  • Joe visit Joe - help him find his dremmel than ask him nicely to cut more holes in the back of the car either side of the new exhaust exit
  • Sort the leaking roof out! I plan to do something similar/same as what Lee did by fitting the original centre roof section and using is as a bit of a gutter so to speak.
  • Seal the radiator to the crash box whilst the front clam is off.

Book a track day and test the car again!! Power wise its still sat currently at around 350-360 on its current settings. I'll pull my finger out next year and get this up to 400 or above hopefully.

Best way to fall back in love with it is to drive it loads and loads IMO, albeit even if that is on a road with it's incumbent issues. As you know I have endless hours of fun in mine, to pay back for all my hard work/hassle on it circa 9 years ago.

GL with fixing it. :)

Super quick note about the 308mm discs and 10mm spacers.

I bought discs and spacers from EP, or similar, and found that the caliper will conflict the disc if only using 10mm. Some geometry explains why you need a slightly bigger spacer to get the disc fit within the caliper. It's really a shame that the companies sell these, in my mind, obviously faulty spacers :(

Contacted ep about the brakes.....looks like I’ll be fitting a washer or having my own 11mm spacers made.

On another note the paint shop seem to be making good progress. Radiator surround now satin black, and initial bumoer cuts done...

I like those grills! Where are they from?
Looks like a good place for extra cooling if required.

Should you have holes in the top of the wheel arch liners to take advantage of the front wing vents?

Contact FLD on here for the grills mate, though you may have to wait a while as I think he’s busy house renovating atm! Yes I plan to eventually mesh the top of the wheel arch liners similar to what Chris UK did.

A bit more progress tonight, rad surround all built up and then I made a start on the brakes. Annoyingly I forgot to order the longer Caliper bolts.

Seal the Bulkead tonight so hopefully it won’t smell as much inside the car now. Also put on some black carpet trim before the speaker panel goes back on to hide the Ali bulkhead. WI tank is being moved to the same location as my old car so it’s easier to fill and out of the cabin....

Managed to get all the front brakes bolted back together tonight. Traction control is now fully wired in and the interior is starting to slowly look better(imo anyway lol)
