if i may,

if you are going to all this effort to make a more aerodynamically efficient car then it may be an idea to base the rear around a well designed diffuser.

I'm not really sure what you mean by a 'well-designed diffuser?'

I assumed, maybe incorrectly that you have been doing these changes to increase aerodynamic effect & efficiency of the car.. as such i thought you may of been reading some aerodynamic books etc and assumed you would of known what aspects a well designed diffuser would need to have to be both effective and efficiant.

Chris, I have been reading a lot of books and information. Many of the in-depth books are difficult to digest and requires computer analysis software to fully appreciate the effects of changes made. The more basic books offer a good overall understanding, but because so many factors need to be taken into consideration and then evaluated, it's not that straightforward or predictable to do from a shed.

I really like these lights, but the car is not on sale as yet, shame!

Looking good! I love the new q8 lights. Is your car a VX or Lotus?

Ive got a Matterport 3D scanner/camera, which allows me to capture and convert into Studio Max and solidworks. But, there's a lot of time needed in resolving the model and that's not worth my time and effort, so photoshop and a tape measure for me.

Good stuff! Please start a thread when you commence your project.

Joe,
I looked at Mustang lights, I really like them. Problem is, I like a lot of lights and since starting this car bodywork modding lark, I keep looking at car lights, bumpers, grills, vents and sills, all very sad!

Something from the VAG, GM, PSA, Toyota, Honda, etc. 'boring car' parts-bin is likely the best option from a price and availability standpoint, also for the future.

Fezza rear lights may be cool, but are likely horrendously expensive and in a few years impossible to obtain anyway.

Choice for the Audi front lights was a good one from that standpoint (could have gone for a McLaren one just to make it impossible :ninja:  ), so a set of rears from a similar car would seem logical.

Using bits from some model that has major aftermarket support also means that you'd be able to get fitting replacements in many years to come. Eg. Golf-1, Honda Civic EG and other such cars exterior bits are still made by oodles of aftermarket companies even though the cars have been out of production for many, many years now.

Bye, Arno.

Good Reasons to go with a mainstream, high volume car.

Thanks
