2016 Alfa Romeo 124 Spider rear LED lights might work on a vx220

Neil,

Both look good! too many options....!!!!

I had a quick play with the 458 option ????? It doesn't do it for me. I do, however, love the 458 rear...????

Think the trick is to steal parts out of other manufacturers parts bins but without trying to imitate... It's the Lotus way.  Think early Loti used rear light clusters from all sorts of different cars :)

The 458 looks like an attempt to imitate... some of the other examples actually work really well :)

YES! mine too...  (so far!) Although the large boxy diffuser will need to be toned down or replaced and a grill to vent the engine area. I also prefer a Ferrari/Maclaren style CF diffuser.

Do you have any edits of the rear with your coupe fitted?

My choice so far....Skoda Karoq lights and edge detail with Toyota C-HR customised lower bumper and aggressive diffuser. I guess at the end of the day, I've got to live with it. I also don't want a clone of another car's rear grafted on. It's unique and the lights will tie in with the jagged front Audi lights. It has vents (not enough in reality) but, I really like it's distinctive sharp look.

I will take photos of my car with the coupe back and knock up a photoshop'd version soon

Well, this is likely to be it! Honest opinions, good or bad, please.

To my eye I'd like to see more angle on the sides to make it less boxy, either wider track width or narrower at the top some how?
Either way it looks like a lot of work but should look mega.

Agree with making sure it doesn't look like you are trying to replicate something

I will draw lines at set distances all over my car. Then once I’ve found photos of the parts I will be using to create the rear all at a similar angle, I can then photograph my car at a similar angled view.

I just need to find dimensions of the Skoda lights. I have already purchased a C-HR rear bumper and diffuser, which I intended to use from the outset. Then I can produce a more cohesive and dimensionally more??? accurate montage of the rear corner of my new car. I’ll try and make my car all one colour and it will also have the coupe back to see how that looks. I need to tweek the coupe back anyway to achieve the right curvature on the lid to match the roof and roll cover.

I agree there’s lots of work. Unfortunately, I’m very time poor. My day starts early and ends late. But, I’m really enjoying tinkering with my VX. Before this, I’d never even cleaned the outside! Actually, I may have when I first got it in 2006. Now, it’s my conjoined beautiful twin (I’m the ugly one 🤪)

The progress I’ve made so far and what I’ve learned along this unusual journey for me, has given me the belief that the back end is totally doable and that I WILL throw my gauntlet down, ready to do battle! Bring it on!

Looking at this alone might be a dangerous game. The new front looks good but I'd hate to see it end up looking like a cut n shut of two cars. This design needs careful consideration of the front and sides too so it fits in properly.

Yeah, Photoshop doesn't show the true picture. I do need to ensure that the back does not look awkward compared to the sides. The photos below look similar on first inspection, but I have rotated the Skoda lights so that it does not look like a 1980's girl's shoulder pads.

I need to do a proper corner view next....

F5 A5 tail lights I think would suit (angles etc) but scale wise, they may come too far in to the middle (like the new Megane). VX is a slightly smaller car than the A5...

Edit - forget that chaps, F5 lights are two-piece.

When your doing these visuals is it worthwhile adding your raised bootlid, and mesh etc..

I think that big block of colour will have a dramatic effect on the look of the rear..
