I might have a bash at this, towards the end of August am stint probably, depending when I can get a bit of time off

Is 1:39.4 the only benchmark for n/a s at the moment?

Well its the best time of a track virgin who was having problems with breaking and turning at the right times!

It was far from a good lap! but my best of the 6! i'm sure someone will soon be making me look stupid but its a start! wish i had timed/video'd Grahams fast lap when he showed me around which he said was 70% lets just say my pants were well and truely soiled before i even got behind the wheel!

But as the only one i'm top of the board! :D

It was a really good session, exactly what i was looking for. Some track day tuition in relative safety and a whole track to spin to my hearts content  .......twice. I learnt so much in the fairly short time with the whole track to myself other people are one less thing to think about! Some real eye openers. Well worth it, definately good for beginners and i'm sure the more experienced. Graham was excellent, plenty of patience and and took it at my own pace and diagnosed each mistake with all the physics to back it up. I came home with plenty of notes on things to work on and think about not to mention a stupidly sunburnt head and funny farmers tan on my arms.

Its a very good confidence builder too, I never thought 125mph to full hard breaking would stop so quickly and precisely! thumbsup

Definetly a good days rallly and will be looking to do it again in the not too distant future

Thanks again Graham Imnotworthy

Rich

I have a paper copy of a slightly more detailed track plan. It was printed out by Graham so if he doesn't post it first, or mind me posting it? i can scan it at lunch.

Well this is what i have, you'll have to ignore the scribbles on the first page, I'm sure Graham will be along at some point with the original versions, or ask me to take these off, one of the two!

Graham I can't see it mentioned on the thread.. is there a cut-off for bookings for this? When does the offer expire? I want to come along but it might be in a month or two. It would be my first track type event too (not counting a supercar thing at Thruxton), and I would be more interested in the tuition than the timed laps, but I see that you already explained that the day can be fairly tailored anyway so that's good! thumbsup I know insurance has been mentioned, but what's the general opinion here? I know I wouldn't be covered with direct line.. Are people checking cover before-hand or just turning up and driving?

It's funny to see my scribbles on the internet! For those who are interested, the scribbly writing explains the theoretical fastest line through a corner. The printed map shows gear change (in the circles) and braking zones (the thinker lines) There is no close date on the offer - I would like it to run and run!

hmmm. seriously tempted by this. i've been promising the girlf a blat in the vx forever and the open-ness of dunsfold park will mean that she can't crash it into anything deliberately..... yup, think i may have to spunk some cash on this :)

I'm definitely going to do this, hopefully in september. I'm guessing it would make sense to get my geo done in the morning before?

Dave and I are booked in for the 14th, it's possible depending on how we get on that we may be talked into a timed lap! I did say possible :D

All depends on Graham and Deans tuition! :P

Had a fantastic time, I highly recommend it, whether any previous track or driver training experience or not. Thanks Graham! I'll just say in my defence - I set that time on lap 3 of 6 rallly , times were coming down a few secs a lap, all going well, then on lap 4 I learnt not to back off the gas at high speed with the front wheels slightly turned! 100mph spin-out. The laps got a lot slower after that! :drink: Was a 10 hour round-trip from Leeds for me. Anyone living anywhere near has no excuse not to go: what you learn about controlling the car might just come in handy sometime..

I don't know if anyone has noticed but there's an identical thread running on SELOC. Only one time posted so far for an S2 with induction, exhaust and nitrons and that was 1:35.9 The Stig clocked 1:35.6 in a standard S2. This has the makings of an "interesting" competition :D

I had fancied getting some training and this adds an extra attraction of doing the times just out of self interest. Just need to see what the outcome of my impending redundancy is before i go spending money when i'm not sure about the future job wise. So glad there is no closing date!
