Big shout to Graham - excellent tuition thumbsup , as someone stated before... as it's 1:1 he quickly finds the things you need to improve on (yep a long list...)... he then demonstrate how it should be done through theory and practical exercises... I learnt a lot.... and look fwd to next track day to put into practice... he was also very complimentary on my car set-up which is nice to know and hear....

As everyone will know after they have tried this... you just know you can go faster... but it's 6 laps and six laps only... and I messed up the last two by spinning :( I blame the pressure of knowing just two runs left... sorry Graham..... & just knew these would have been sub 1' 32" ;)

Still I'm very reasonably pleased with this time :) the Stig did 1' 31.3" in a VXT...

plus look at all the stuff behind this time.... & with Stig at the wheel :) and without 90kilo passenger... just shows the reward of a few mods to an already great car...

I would guess the biggest advantage Mick had was the decent tyres.

Mick, its important to remember this was original 'black' Stig posting that time. Opinions seem to be that later 'white' Stig was generally quicker than the old and might have posted a sub 1.30 if given the chance..?

Still, that doesn't take away what a great time you've set and what a marker for everyone to aim for :)
Well done! thumbsup

Actually,it's open to anyone. It just that I have only posted here, on the Lotus Elise site and the Exige site; as these are the vehicles we specialise in. (We do Noble and Honda NSX too I haven't got round to putting it up on their forums)

We have done tuition with clients in an V10 M5, and now with three clients who are M3CSL owners. (The CSL's are very impressive). Times are confidential unless the owner says it's OK!

NickH and Dave were down this afternoon. It should be said that their primary reason for being here was to improve their road driving and experience the limit of their cars, not to post a super-quick stiggy lap time. But they had a go anyway... good sports! Now organised in "Leaderboard" Order..... It was good day out.........very much enjoyed and so much to take in. The one to one Instruction was spot on ,thanks guys all very calm and understanding of our needs. For me the learning experieace has begun.... Braking/ Throttle/ steering control were just a few of the things that that I gained the most from. Understanding the dynamics of our cars and why they do what they do...... Would I recomend this YES, well worth the money. Dave :)

As Graham said Dave and I went there to learn about the VX and the way it behaves under certain conditions. Graham and Dean took us round for a couple of laps and it's amazing what these little plastic cars can do in the right hands Imnotworthy For me personally it was about learning to 'feel' more from the car, when to brake, how to brake, when to turn, when not to turn, throttle control, all the things that I'd wanted to learn about but couldn't really practice on the open road. I wish I had an airfield!! :D The tuition from Graham and Dean was excellent, very well explained and combined with the practical side was just what I had hoped for. thumbsup I'm not a fast driver, for me it's about being within my own limits where the car is under control and the ride is smooth and precise. There's nothing worse than actually scaring your passenger, I'd like to think my passenger would get out and then be quite happy to jump back in again. thumbsup For anybody thinking of driver training I would very much recommend this as Graham tailors the package to suit your requirements so whether you are just starting out like me or a seasoned track day driver, you'll really benefit from it. The timed laps were just a bit of fun at the end, although not the fastest, I was very pleased compared to my initial times and it was great to get some of those corners just right and keep the car under control thumbsup I'll definitely be going back in a few months thumbsup thumbsup Again many thanks to Graham and Dean thumbsup thumbsup thumbsup I'm off to go and look at buying an airfield

I'm off to go and look at buying an airfield

You could always rent Bruntingthorpe:

The charge for 'shared' use is £50.00 per vehicle per hour (min 2 hrs) or £150.00 per 1/2 day (4 hrs) or £250.00 per 8 hr day (all + vat).
Please note that all vehicles using the test track must be silenced to road-legal standard (less than 98 dba at the exhaust). Noisy vehicles will be stopped immediately!

There's nothing worse than actually scaring your passenger, I'd like to think my passenger would get out and then be quite happy to jump back in again

Personally I like to see them reach for something to hold on to at least once during a trip....

Yes there is that and yes that did happen but not to the extent where people feel uncomfortable with erratic moves that show little or no control thumbsup

Sold :D

Graham, whats the deal if two of us come down together (all the way from Scotland!) ??? Is that (plus maybe a tiny bit of brake replacing) do-able in a day ?

rallly

The driver training and brake replacing is do-able in a day. Only you can judge if the driving down from Scotland is do-able in a day.

For two people at once we use two instructors... three people three instructors. So the deal is the same - £179.00 per person including VAT.
