ChazUWE was that on Yoko's as well ?

Sorry Steve didn't see this first time round. My laps weren't on the Yoko's, rather some virtually bold bridgestones (not that I am making excuses!). Sure if I did it now I would get a much more respectable time, mainly cause of the yoko's and as I have managed to improve my driving following a few track days :)

I have to admit though I think in terms of track times a combination of driver training and some sticky rubber will make the biggest difference......Much more than any power upgrades are likely to give you anyway!

Plans Motorsport are now doing Gift Vouchers for the Stiggy Challenge - so if you don't know what to ask your girlfriend / wife / partner / boyfriend / husband / mum & dad / etc etc for chrimbo then a stiggy challenge gift voucher may be the thing. (What do you get someone who has everything including a VX?) We have enhanced the programme ... and VX220.org ' ers get £10 off Stiggy Challenge - £179 (usually £189) Stiggy Challenge with in car video and DVD to take away - £219 (usually £229) Stiggy challenge, video/ DVD and full data logging (showing track maps, speed, g-forces etc etc, you fastest lap vs your average lap, you lap against the instructors "reference lap" etc etc - £239 (usually £249) The recipient gets a personalised pack including a covering letter, the gift voucher, an information pack and all the details required to attend.

Thanks Dave... and thanks for the cross-post from www.pistonheads.com it's interesting how well the VX220 goes compared to others on the pistonheads version of the leaderboad. One newsflash.... not released anywhere else.... we have a Suzuki Liana now (the very same....) so, we now have the "Reasonable bloke in a reasonably priced car" challenge, with full video and a DVD to take away. Are you an Ellen McCarther or a Terry Wogan? taking booking now 01483 280036

The wife bought me this as an xmas pressie (with the in car footage too). I was wondering when would be a good time to come and do it - i guess at the moment its pretty wet / snowy so it's not the best time to put down a few laps. Should i wait till spring? On the driver training bit before hand can we ask to be instructed on certain things (eg how to make the car go sideways under control etc etc)

;)

You'll love it; leave ample time to get there though, I got stuck on the mf M25 for an hour even at 3pm in the afternoon.

I recommend you go when it's wet/icy - don't want you to beat my time..

haha - i think i'll need a LOT of driver training to not be the bottom driver on that list ;) We should arrange a tunnel run around Leeds city centre sometime (see my post in the exhaust thread this morning). It could be fun if we did it at night (and the tunnels are MUCh better than around the airport), and went for a drink afterwards.

I must admit I think I would get a lot out of doing it on a wet track.

Up for that when the weather's better; planted it in 2nd coming home in the wet last night & went nowhere, definitely need some warmer/drier weather..

Don't have much of an exhaust note myself of course But I remem once in the long tunnel at the top of the inner ring road, overtook a tootling 360 who later floored it - the roar was deafening.

To answer the questions above, the real difference with Plans Driver Training is that it is: 1. based on engineering principles and explaining the dynamics of the vehicle... the theory being that if you understand what's happening with the car you'll be better equiped to driver safer, quicker, better 2. fact-based - we use reseach to ask, analyse, interpret and sythesise what makes the best drivers different from the pack 3. totally client-centred - our training is always tailored to the individual - every session is different. We help you achieve your objective; whether that is to be safer on the road; more confident in the car; better on track days; or simply to be able to hoon around sliding your car like a Japanese drifting god. The VX220 is difficult to "drift", and most race drivers are rubbish at it, due to years of trying not to slide. A lot of people worry about the weather. It really is not an issue. The wetter the track is, the more you'll learn and the wear and tear on the car (not that there is much if you are doing it properly) will be less.

well done alex

Thanks guys.

Fitting Nitrons tonight, so will hopefully get the chance to have another go sometime soon. With a bit of luck i might be able to give Reasonablekeith a bit of a run for his money. We need to try to get rid of those old Elises from the top of the leader board. :gayfight: :D

Alex what wheel/tyre combo are you running ? As improved times would also result from some sticky tyres like Toyo R888s or Yoko A048s, and should knock a few seconds of your lap times at least, as well as the Nitrons ;) Rs Jas

That looks like a very neat lap thumbsup . Looked very fast and brave through the follow-through.

Plans have there leader board marked up showing whether the lap has been done with or without a passenger, as they reckon a passenger is worth about 2-3 seconds. From what i can remember the top two fastest times on the board were without passengers.

That youtube lap is Gavin Kirby, IIRC he's was on his own in the car, but it's still a great time in a 'standard' exige.

I'm sorry to say that my time _was_ hampered by having to lug Graham around, but do come and goad me if you post a better time, I'm looking for an excuse to go back anyway :)
