Having had the VX for 2 years now I think it is time for a change of direction, to date I have mainly used the VX for euro trips and just generally sunny weekends and I have loved every minute. Still think it is a fantastic car and have no plans to change it in the near future. But now it is a little older and worth a little less I have decided to focus more on driving it as it's meant to be driven, on the track. I have been to the ring and done a couple of track days but I really want to learn more about driving the VX on it's limit's and know exactly what it is doing and what I need to do to get it round the track as quickly as possible! To this end I visited Plans this morning for some 1 on 1 driver training with Graham around the Top Gear track. A massive thumbsup and thank you to Graham as he was fantastic. Was great to experience what these cars can do in the right hands on some of the passenger laps I had. I think the best thing about doing training at Plans is the open structure where the things that Graham picks up as weaknesses can be addressed and focused on. There was a considerable margin for improvement :P , mainly born from habits of road driving that were hard to shake! The track as damp so there were a few spins, infact we spent a good period of time trying to provoke spins taking the hammerhead from the opposite direction. Not only was this good fun rallly but it also gave me a good feeling for what the car is doing in this situation and what needs to be done to try and correct it, and what needs to be done if you've f**ked it up  Great day which has been invaluable, think I need to get on some more track days to practice and gain more confidence at which point I will go back again for a follow up session :) Thanks again Graham, throughly recommended to all thumbsup

Hey Guys, hope you don't mind an Elise owner popping over from Seloc. I did Grahams Stig Challenge this morning, and set a new fastest time of 1:27.99 in a totally standard s1 elise :) Oh, alright, the time's right, but it's not quite standard. I've got nitron's, pagids and was on R888's, I've also got a honda in the back and am probably getting around 220bhp out of it. As said already in this thread, it's a great way to spend a morning/afternoon. thumbsup . I guess it's only a matter of time before I get knocked off, so when it happens, come and goad me over on Seloc and drum up some more business for Graham :D For anyone who's interested my 6 laps were as follows... 1) 1:30.87 2) 1:30.30 3) 1:30.27 4) 1:28.80 * 5) 1:27:99 6) ------- err, had a slight hiccup at the hammerhead, last lap syndrome :beat: * the big difference here being that for the first time, I spotted gambon before going half way down the runway

reasonablekeith thumbsup Thats still a noticable margin B) Must have been a good lap :poke: Seriously though it an impressive time regardless of mods... as we know they mean nothing without the driver behind them. Andy chinky chinky

top lap.. with good consistent times before hand thumbsup

like you I suffered last [two] lap syndrome :beat:

don't think I would have got close to that - even with the extra 60bhp !!

well done..

( * the big difference here being that for the first time, I spotted gambon before going half way down the runway yep know what you mean !! always too early or late :beat:

How many laps of the track are you guys getting in? I'm thinking of doing a trackday before the weather draws in...

6 timed laps... and then 'n' number of sighting/training laps during one hour before hand... for me I reckon I did 5-6 laps before, but that was because I was doing other driving exercises around the circuit (which were very rewarding)... if your drivng is of a better standard then you may just be doing more laps improving your lines, braking points etc.... it's 1 to 1 with Graham so tailored to suit your needs... thumbsup
