Why are the stage (speed) upgrades so popular, if speed "is not the point." Yes - flat spot etc I know, but that’s stage 1 !

Of course it's an aspect of the truth, stop ripping the new guy. Stop being so black and white :-)

They're right y'know. The VX isn't about straight line acceleration. Your're all a bunch of common boy racers. And that Thorney bloke is the worst of the lot. I hear he's takng his modded VX down the strip at santa pod at that highlight of the baseball capped nova boys year the VPCC day! P.S. I did about 12.9 in my stage one 1 VX turbo (and i wasn't even trying...one handed all the way :P ) and cant wait to give you all a thrashing on said Santa pod day. Anyone can go round corners :poke:

 sorry i couldn't resist...

I was on this site [studying all the cons about the VX] well before i joined, almost 9mnths to be exact, and since 03 i've seen the 1/4 mile question asked a billion times... the 5 ''active'' members [laughs out loud] on 116.com use to come up with some top class flaming back then

Hence my pish taking, i was hoping to troll out a troll by doing so ;)

Myself, Cheeky and Q & D must be '3 of the 5' posters on type 116 and interesting probably in the top 5 attenders in VX's at Santa pod over the last few years aswell so that puts that theory where it belongs :poke:

Enjoyable thread. :D Interesting thought that the standard across the world for measuring a cars performance is 'a clutch dropping, tyre smoking staight line sprint' othewise known as the 0-60, not much difference between that and a 1/4 mile sprint really. The VXT official brochure used the 0-60 time at least twice in headlines so straight line speed was clearly important to the makers of the car  I'd personally never take my car to santa pod as it would hurt to be so unsympathetic to the clutch and also I'd find it a bit dull, whooopee lets go fast in a straight line, that was mildly fun for a few seconds. Dont be put off by the banter Mr RedHair but promise us you wont get spinners. I personally think one of the great things about this car is that you can do the Stage mods and the car looks absolutely stock from the outside.

I assume because a VX220 was not designed to be particularly good at a 1/4 mile sprint, it was designed to corner well and therefore produce good lap times.

I'd suggest that people who enquire about 1/4 mile times are lumped together with those that ask "How fast does it go?"...both of which a lot of members (especially the older / more mature ones) on here consider to be totally missing the point of the VX. If we wanted to go in a straight line rapidly, we would have bought a different car. This can lead to lumping the LaxPower boys in with these groups due to "boy racer antics" and their obsession with add-ons that usually don't help on a track. As you can imagine, VX220 members don't have a great deal of respect for LaxPower / boy racers.

I am not having a go, I am merely pointing out a reason why the reaction might have been considered less than positive.

Ab-so-fuuuuuuucking-lutely have to agree with you here TA. Who wants to go fast in a straight line? My mate and his Impruza is always harping on about irrelevent stats (56-72mph times, 1/4 mile, air con average temp etc etc blah blah)

TT - Yeah but <no but> he has 3 threads on 'Should I sell or not', 2 on 'How much is it worth' and 1 on 'I blitzed a lambo lolololol' however! :P

Guys - it's only a bit of harmless pi55 taking. At least next time before posting a thread he'll consider 'Will VX owners really want to read this?'. Chances are mate, it's a no.

The majority of VX owners don't take thier car near a twisty track either. In fact the funniest threads on here are the ones about getting 40mpg and how shiny their car is.

Each to his own eh.

Heard about them spinners Rich could you not tape em down init ?

Yeah tried that mate, the wind gets between the chrome blades and starts to whistle.. its quite off putting when i'm trying to listen to my Jive Bunny remix tape. :(

Now if you installed the two 12" subs in the boot as you wondered the other week you would be fine, and wouldn't hear the whistling.

come on you know it makes sense :-D

I can't believe i'm reading this sh*t. All throughout the forum sarcasm and baiting and stupid answers to questions from genuine people who foolishly thought they had the freedom to ask anything, being amongst 'like minded people'. Although, before posting this reply on a public forum i really should have 'considered whether or not other vx owners would want to read it'. Why not change this open forum into a locked information page, then those of you in the know can post a set of rules or instructions on how we are to use our vx's, what we can and can't do to them and how we should think. ? rant

it's funny how every 'car' forum reckons their cars are the most 'pure'. I once asked about depreciation on the renaultsport forum for the megane R26 and got a similar crappy response of "you don't buy one of these cars if you're worried about depreciation, you buy them because they are a drivers car bla bla". shame on you vx220 veterans, this guy wants to be part of the collective :grouphug: and you tell him he shouldn't drive in a straight line :P
