anyway, I would prefer to do 1/4 mile times in something like an R5gtt - cheap to mod, cheap to fix and will outperform a lot of cars in a straight line. I wouldn't get any pleasure in doing 1/4 miles in a vx - i'd be paranoid about shelling out £1500 for a new clutch every time

Heard about them spinners Rich could you not tape em down init ?

Yeah tried that mate, the wind gets between the chrome blades and starts to whistle.. its quite off putting when i'm trying to listen to my Jive Bunny remix tape. :(

i can see the point about an NA as you will get beat by civic type r's, clio williams etc up the strip, but the turbos do have the pace to give some big power cars a run for their money.

Is that based on [laughable book] 0-60 times or have you actually driven a N/A against Clios and Civics?

For a bunch of people who drive Vauxhalls, there's a lot of snobbery on here about what is a valid form of motorsport......... If Mr Bastard wants to do this then that is up to him. I fail to see why his question was stupid.........

No one on here is making out they drive anything other than a Vauxhall

And to be honest i've run a few cars and bikes up the strip - including the VX and im still yet to see the fun in going fast for a quarter of a mile  why did i do it then your thinking? - well because they were free days with car clubs and companies i worked with :P

In my eye - if your going to post something up about 'straight lining' on a forum that is very track/fast road bias then expect to get dull answers thumbsup

If your 'mature' enough then you'll ignore them ;) :P

I assume because a VX220 was not designed to be particularly good at a 1/4 mile sprint, it was designed to corner well and therefore produce good lap times.

I'd suggest that people who enquire about 1/4 mile times are lumped together with those that ask "How fast does it go?"...both of which a lot of members (especially the older / more mature ones) on here consider to be totally missing the point of the VX. If we wanted to go in a straight line rapidly, we would have bought a different car. This can lead to lumping the LaxPower boys in with these groups due to "boy racer antics" and their obsession with add-ons that usually don't help on a track. As you can imagine, VX220 members don't have a great deal of respect for LaxPower / boy racers.

I am not having a go, I am merely pointing out a reason why the reaction might have been considered less than positive.

I can suggest http://www.vauxhalls...orum.com/phpBB2 as a good place to discuss the technicalities of 1/4 miling etc..... a far more positive attitude to making use of a correct wheel drive light car that is ripe for 1/4 mile action (aswell as a laps etc)

Funny you should say that, i browsed in the Gallery forum this morning and saw at least 4 VXs missing their rear Vauxhall badges yet keeping the VX220 one

 Yes removing a badge is going to make it look more like a lambo isn't it - only with a big griffin on the grill and steering wheel!!

And i shall say this in defence of others - some members bought them like it, the badges were already removed :beat:

LMHO - the VXT i bought last week has no vauxhall badges on the front or the rear. But I like this because it makes the tubby look more like a 'kit' car.

I too am amazed at some of the snobbery (mostly in the form of sarcasm) that's on this site. The VX is a massively capable car at all sorts of disciplines whether it be daily driving, weekend blatting, straight line, cornering, track days etc. etc. even hairdressers can enjoy it poof . It's also pants in some respects. This is what gives it it's chracter, each to their own, rant rant..... :tt:

Its not a snobbery thing anyway, its just something that appeals to some and not to others, the ones that like that sort of thing will defend the ones that do, and the ones that don't like it will take the p*ss, simple really. Just Chill and enjoy the banter ;)

I honestly thought when I opened this thread there was going to be something about racing in the middle east... maybe I need my eyes testing :o

I can see the addiction of qtr mile racing, but personally I would get very bored very quickly

I don't think anyone is being nasty or snobby here tbh - just :poke: having a bit of fun - I'd be happy for someone to take the p*ss out of a question I asked on the internet - after all, it is only that - it's not real... poof

If you want real snobbery type the same question up on 116.com - they love Quarter mile times :P
