Do they need an injection of cash? Carrot provisions? Arms? A visit to raise morale? I could do a turn: 'We'll meat again'...
Cant help them I'm afraid, they are in the secret caves with Uncle Bin, so well hidden even the Georgie boy cant find them

Sad, very sad oblomov. I find calling you oblomov so impersonal......... I'll call you Walter from now on.So where are we at with this debate on the suitability of killing animals with air rifles in particular and taking pleasure in killing animals as a sport in general?
Now Walter, you seem to think that you're the only person on this forum that has any form of experience of the Royal Marines, Armed Forces, Firearms and the L96A1 Rifle. You don't however know anything of my background, I've already said my best mate (and his brother) were Marines. We've all done pretty intense stuff at work, some just don't mention it.
In answer to your points.
1. Underpowered air rifles, what have you been shooting? A £40 SMK B2 or an upward of £700 Precharged pneumatic? At no point have I said the rifles I shoot aren't on my FAC.
2. Elaine didn't challenge your credentials, she asked what they were.
3. Eh?

4. As somebody posted earlier, don't take the shot unless you're 100% confident in a clean kill.
5. What truth? Animal get shot, animal drops dead, shooter takes animal home to eat (or in the case of Rats to an incinerator).
6. No you are incorrect, the BASC don't make the rules, DEFRA do. Oh and what have we here, trying to class shooters with Nazi war criminals, you are truly are pathetic Walter.
7. Have you not bothered to read about all the conservation the BASC do? Are you aware that the RSPB works with shooters to conserve wetland habitats? Or are you so ignorant not to have done any research from both sides of the argument?
8. So not only are shooters Nazis, they also shoot cats? Well not here they don't not even feral ones.
9. Wrightster can confirm that I did answer his question, it went along the lines of "I get enjoyment from taking a skilled shot, just the same as when I get enjoyment from driving".
10. Proper methods of control? Yes you are correct trapping is effective, however it isn't very selective. As a shooter I can select my targets (sick, old or young), pest control is about thinning out, not wiping out. I assume everyone knows that it's illegal to release a non native species (ie: Grey Squirrel) from a trap.
11. Already answered.

What's that I can hear Walter? The French judge saying "Nil point"........

Reg, what i asked was
Reg, do you enjoy shooting the animals or do you do it purely out of the goodness of your heart for the preservation of the countryside?
your answer
Both, I get enjoyment from taking a good skilled shot (and I'm helping our native animals), much like when we get that corner right when driving our cars.
Not sure what oblomov has been shooting, but my rifles are accurate to the extreme. I also have a firearms certificate, the police don't hand them out to anyone........
Cheers
Reg
so therefore you enjoy killing animals by shooting them, if it was purely down to enjoying taking a good clean shot then go and shoot at a range or if you need to shoot moving targets then surely clay pigeon shooting would satisfy that need.....

Well....back to Winter Hobbies, also using the 'Never argue with an idiot, you'll only look as stupid' technique. I'm going down to Hayling Island to watch the b/f WindSurf in this gorgeous(not) weather we are having at the moment; and then ask him just how cold and shriveled his dangley bits are and whether he would like to re-think his winter hobby
