Don't have any particular feeling about the looks, don't have any particular knowledge about the heat issues. But for water ingress issues they look freaking awesome. Wonder if there's something that would fit on the turbo engine and provide that much coverage -- could persuade me to keep the CF bootlid if so...

If you like it thats whats important you wont please everyone. Was a bit unkind pulling the idea apart and then dragging up previous posts and giving him a bit of a kicking but your entitled to your opinion. Simply pointing out your concerns and a simple I dont like it may of been enough. You air your thoughts and ideas in public though and you are setting yourself up to be ridiculed it seems. Personally I think its alright, hope you have no problems, and keep your individual ideas coming you never know one day you might please everyone.

I'm guessing lots of people like this idea as there is only 1 left on ebay atm! Personally I think it looks OK and this time of year it makes sense. I'm sure you could chop/mod it a bit to improve airflow but still get most of the protection from water ingress...

i can honestly say ive had no problems with heat so far nothing has been out of the norm. i know its winter so i know the ambient temps are alot cooler, but i will have to wait for summer to get an idea of temps.. as for people expressing concerns, i appreciate it as they may come across something i havent thought of. but i thank everyone for all the ideas/concerns.

Hopefully you won't need to worry about water ingress in the summer thus negating the need for the cover and no worrying about temps...oh, wait, this is the UK isn't it

Slightly off subject, Chris, you say you sit in traffic for 90 mins and the temp never goes over 97? Mine is a standard N/A and in traffic it will consistantly go all the way up to 106 after about 20 mins, when the fan kicks in. By traffic I do mean standing traffic (no movement what-so-ever) but should I be worried?

is this in the cold??

the last time mine hit 106 is when the water was really low. (i had the light on) and it was very hot.

Nope waters fine.

Met a few N/A owners today who confirmed temps the same as me so I'm not worried anymore.

fcuk paying £300 odd for a pro alloy rad, I think I'll get an engine cover to do the same job :D Dean, Mine hits 106 in traffic all the time, and does it wether its winter or summer, hot/cold/wet/snowing etc so the seasons have sod all to do with that bit. Chris, have you got an alloy rad/the PA fat rad fitted per chance?

Thats my shiney engine with the vx220 club hats. Got it ripped out of me at work for polishing it, but was quite happy with the results. Having such a tatty engine was bugging me every time I open the boot. My rocker cover has quite a few imperfections, but you cant really notice them in that picture. For more pics of my car click the for sale link below. ;)
