exactly so lower compresssion more boost, higher compression less boost. so if you get low compression pistons then you can get a harrop and increase the boost, however if you get higher compression then get a harrop you will have to limit the boost.... so from that i assume if you want more power then lower compression is the way to go... but if you just want to keep the m62 then higher compression is the way to go, correct?

With turbo engines then yes, although your more likely to get lag. However with a SC engine it's a bit more complicated as to get more boost you need to consume more power from the engine. Also SC's, even the TVS, are less efficient than a turbo and arn't really design to create big boost levels. combine that with the cooling and flow restriction of the laminova manifold and you can end up chaseing your tail adding more boost and not making much more power. The advantage of low compression is that it is 'safe' if you don't have full access/ability to map the engine properly.

well its been a while so thought i would update my recent purchases and mods!

recently purchased a few xmas presents to myself and from myself:

Posted Image

full 2bular system :groupjump:

then i recently purchasesd a new gearbox with a 4.17 gear ratio, while that is out i will be fitting my quick shift to it which some dodgy geezer gave me ;)

then i decided to heat shield my charge cooler header tank with nimbus material give to me by a kind young sir!

Posted Image

it may be overkill but hey ho!

now as my heater never really worked i decided feck it!! so i pulled all of my charge cooler pipes out, then hooked up the heater pipes instead. to do this you need to make a link at the manifold end so i did! you can see it while i show of the manifold

Posted Image

at the over end i have made a U bend to contain the existing water in the heater unit and have kept the heater unit just for the Fan (so same as before i changed the pipes!)

then as i had a bit of problem with my springs being to soft! well not so much of a problem just when i accelarate i see sky and when i brake i see ground  so i changed for stronger ones as advised by Cliffie and got a set of 400/450

Posted Image

Also have decided to swap my Piper 'one-off' cams for some blower cams that i am waiting to order!

Then i will get rid of the head rest bits to lose a bit more weight :groupjump:

Don't go there. It's allegedly very close but then has it been for 9 months. They're also making me a little something for the Audi as well now.
