right, another load of work has been done and the car's overall progress is well on its way! :D once again im so sorry for the pic quality!

i decided to do the heater box (advised earlier in the thread). so with this i removed the rad housing and rad also meaning draining the water system - think it needed some nice new fresh water! then obviously battery etc.......

was a mess in there so gave that a good clean!

with the heater box out i saw how bad a design it was (held together in a poor way) so got out the silicone sealer and went mad! can never have too much if you ask me, and you dont see it, so made sure no air could escape. thumbsup

next decided to start to spruce up the engine bay. so to kick start it off i decided to paint the rocker cover and exhaust heat shield in high temp silver paint. really pleased with the result thumbsup

all parts still need to be flatend and polished, these are pics straight after painting. it has had 3 coats of paint, a final dust coat then 3 coats of laquer.

I have recently become a fan of a colour called steel blue, we have painted 2 cars at work in it at the moment, the pictures below being the first to be finished.

As you can see it is a bluey grey, but when you get the car in sunlight it also has a lot of red in it. Very difficult to imagine it on a vx though!

just a quick update, took the afternoon off work to do some more to the motor, way things are going i will hopefully have it done by the weekend! :D

well first job i wanted to do was a complete oil change, nice and straight forward, and easy when all the clams are off, glad thats done before the nice summer of motoring.

2nd job of the afternoon was to paint the brakes, wanted to spruce them up - just used smooth finish hamerite...

then i thought i would spruce up the engine bay a little more - carrying on from my last post. so painted a few brackets and the support bars in smooth black hamerite. as before i like little things like this this..........

and finally started putting bits back together, just a pic with the door on, sorry for the crap quality of this pic (didn't take many today). had the car out under normal light today (not this pic, still under major bright light here) and the paint work looks so dark (black at some angles) will get some pics this weekend so you can see how it looks. im so pleased.

Which grey is that - is it Lava grey or Daytona? Can't really tell from the pics but as you say it's almost black I guess it's Lava? If I go ahead and order the new S4 in a couple of months, I think I'll probably go with Lava.

daytona grey. if you have a look on the previous page on the r8, you can see how dark the colour goes and that pic is still taken under good light. thumbsup
