Except the good part number is http://www.bell-colv...p?Id=A120J6004S

Used to be 280£ inc a few months ago....

They said it was an error when I tried to buy at that original price.

Most likely you got your quote just during the price update, cause I got it priced at something around 390€ at a french Lotus dealer

So is it the control module or actuator thats needed?

Control module/ECU only required. You use the same actuator.

The ECU is the actuator (it is not only an ECU computing part), the stuff it actuates is the hydraulic module below it

Ok so the two parts on bell & colvill :-

One that you posted "ECU Kit - ABS Actuator £422.05 (£495.91 inc VAT) Order Code : A120J6004S"

One that I posted "ABS Control Module £729.32 (£856.95 inc VAT) Order Code : A120J6000F"

Everyone has always talked about needing the "Module" rather than an "Actuator", so to get the terminology correct, for the ABS upgrade to Exige S2 4 channel ABS you need the Exige ABS Actuator you don't need the ABS control module?

A120J6004S is the electrical part (ECU + actuators)

A120J6000F is the actuator + the hydraulic unit, so it is A120J6004S + another part number

Think I get it now :)

Lotusgarage part :-
02 ECU Kit, ABS actuator
A120J6004S
Our Price: $558.49

Which come to £341 + duty + postage so about £430... this seems like a good place to do a group buy from, drop the postage cost down may end up £420 - any group discount that could be negotiated?

Not sure if i can still get these units or indeed for £360

The vxr one is a 4 channel (checks all 4 individual wheels) the 2 channel checks pairs (as far as I understand it). Problem on my car with original wheels and 16/17 combo was that if you hit a bump while braking at almost any speed, it went into ice mode and was lethal. With the vxr unit, it does still go a bit mad, but only about 20% of the time the original would have gone nuts, and has to be provoked far more and hasnt yet given me reason to disconnect it. The original one was disconnected for 2 years or more, thats how bad it was. These effects do seem to differ in severity depending on different cars it seems though. Martin s

Something along the lines of: it's possible that the ABS warning light will be on when you turn on the ignition. You will need to go to a Lotus delaer/specialist for them to connect their diagnostic tool to reset the light.

Thank you. Do they say somewhere that we have to go to a Lotus dealer to activate the new module or is it only necessary if the light stay on ??

Only if the light stays on. Some people over here have fitted them and they've worked straight away, others have had to get a Lotus specialist to reset the light.

Do you think it'd make a difference if fitting the new module with battery disconnected / ECU reset?

It does but I think it's calibrated for 17" (or even 18") wheels all round.

I reset the ECU and it doesnt effect it the light, as its deeper in the system somehow. Ita takes minutes to reset it on the Lotus tech 2. Martin s

I spotted this thread and had a little read down as its something I had considered. I have a friend at a lotus dealership so asked about the ABS ecu's, heres what I got... "I can strike a deal with Lotus, don't know where you got £700 from (maybe the engine ecu??) The retail on the abs ecu is £422 + vat, I can supply you at £275 + vat." Is there much interest in a group buy on this one?
