I spotted this thread and had a little read down as its something I had considered. I have a friend at a lotus dealership so asked about the ABS ecu's, heres what I got...

"I can strike a deal with Lotus, don't know where you got £700 from (maybe the engine ecu??) The retail on the abs ecu is £422 + vat, I can supply you at £275 + vat."

Is there much interest in a group buy on this one?

I want one definately very happy at that price.

Heres the reply:

"Lotus only list one abs ecu for exige/elise/211.
I mentioned this to the Lotus field engineer last week, he knew another dealer was supplying one of the VX220 clubs, I checked it out & they bought
28 of the same part number last year, think its safe to say this maybe the one!

:D It's been a group buy on the german speedsterforum.de So look for those numbers: Lotus part No. A120J6004S / ( S108196012 should be written somewhere on the sticker of the ABS-ECU) Whether the engine light comes on or not depends on the ABS-Ecu you got. If it's a used one from an Elise 111R / Exige which was already mounted in a car then the light will be off. If it's a new one then the light will definetly be on because the hydraulic pistons of the ABS-actuator have to be reset. This only can be done by a Lotus dealer (at least in Germany) and not with the normal Tech2 from Opel/Vauxhall. With the Tech2 you can't reach the ABS-unit.

FLD you are on fire at the moment.... thumbsup What else could he do with such discount I am now wondering... and what you have had to do to befriend him..... poof Only kidding. chinky chinky It is always good to have an insider that can do trade prices... Just wish I could justify a Halfords and Vaux trade card.... I do teach motor-vehicle mechanics though (only parts of thier Key Skills though), just doesn't cut it.

What does "organising" a group buy entail? Can't we just phone up tell him you sent us and pay for the units at that price and tell him once deadline X is reached thats all the orders from us? Did he mention any minimum order fro that price?

I'd suggest finding out who wants one then phoning him and saying we want X units delivered to X, Y and Z. No minimum order number was mentioned but I guessed at 4-6 units when I asked. If its over that I'm sure he'd be happy.

To be honest neither do I, but I see how much better 4 channel should be opposed to the stock 2 channel. On the stock 17" mine was dreadful it seems much better on 16"/17"'s, I think its purely because the 16" has more outright grip so the ABS is triggered far less often.

I am interested, but not at that price at this time. I have £4-5K of stuff higher on the list than this unfortunately, and that will take a while to get through if ever. :(

Hehe!

Randomly I was talking to a guy in Halfords Car Park tonight that is desperate to get his hands on some correct dot code Rears for his 111S. I started the conversation in the store and it lead to about 20mins of VX / Lizzie chat. He is a SELOC member, but acknowledged that he thought they could be a bit poof towards vx220 owners. Unfortunately I was in the MG as I had gone to get some new headlights for it otherwise it would have been a perfick picture opportunity, but heyho!

Coincidentally he gave me his business card and said to give him an e-mail if I know anyone that could source him some as all the places he has contacted have said they are on back order and cannot be sourced at the moment. So if your matey has some tyres in the dealership he may just have a sale lined up if he wants it.

So it turns out not all Lizzie drivers are complete knobs!

My ABS is over-excitable so I'm up for this. Is it worth moving this to the group buy room to see if it generates any more interest? 1. Steve B 2. Techie Boy 3. 2-20 4. SteveA 5. Exmantaa 6. Bakazan
