My ABS is over-excitable so I'm up for this. Is it worth moving this to the group buy room to see if it generates any more interest?

1. Steve B - Confirmed
2. Techie Boy - Confirmed
3. 2-20 - Confirmed
4. SteveA
5. Exmantaa
6. Bakazan - Confirmed

Now we've a few 100% definates I'll speak to the dealer on Monday for all details / payment / postage etc and then I'll put a new post in the Group Buy room :D

Thanks for the PM Steve.

I'll take one and thanks for bringing this together.

Cheers

John

Steve,

Change of plan from myside, no longer have a requirement for the ABS module.

Thanks

John

Ok I dropped the Dealer a message with 6 confirmed (I've not had a confirmation from SteveA) and asked for payment / postage details and suggested another week to see if there are anymore takers. I'll keep everyone updated.

Anymore that want an Exige ABS ECU please see the Group Buy thread in that sections :) There were 6 on the shelf so the first 6 who act on the PMs sent will get them 1st, others will get the next lot ready, this maybe helpfull to get cash together etc. chinky chinky

If one of those first 6 comes back and says that yes this went from zero to hero on wet roads with 16" rims and X tires, then it will be hard to resist doing. thumbsup

Got my new ECU today and its a 5 minute job to fit it. As predicted I have the ABS warning light on now so got to find someone to reset it, fingers crossed Hoffmans can do it :)

Steve, I'm slightly unsure what we have to get done, earlier Tommess said "the hydraulic pistons of the ABS-actuator have to be reset" but elsewhere it's suggested that a minor fault code has to be reset? Have you had a play to see if the ABS is working even with the light on?

I think the "reset of codes" is a system reset so sorting it all. I've mailed hoffmans to find out if they can do it, I drove the car to work today with the warning light on and all seemed well in the rain.

Hoffmans don't think they can do it although they said to pop over and they'd try so I'll do that on Saturday morning. If they can't sort it, I have three Lotus Dealers about the same distance away from me, Dick Lovett - Swindon, Merritts Lotus - High Wycombe, Silverstone Lotus. Who would be the best choice to try next>?

Mine was a minor fault code that had to be reset. Ideally find an independent Lotus dealer as some of the full Lotus dealers just didnt seem to understand what I wanted done. Martin s

I tried to lock up a wheel on mud this morning to see if ABS light = no ABS and indeed it does well the one wheel locked and the car rapidly slowed, it still pulled up better than the old ABS functioning. Incase Hofmanns computer can't turn the light off and ABS on, any recommended indys in the south Oxfordshire / West Berkshire area that may have the means?

I don't get on here much now, but I noticed this thread on ABS Upgrade. We bought a VXR module late last year from Baylis only to find they no longer have the 'Tech 2' to reset the light. It was only on loan while the VXR's were under warranty and then they sent it back to Lotus. So I spoke to a technician called 'Chris' at Dick Lovett, Swindon and he thought they would be able to do it. The car was book in but we had heavy snow on the day and we could not get out of the village. They may be worth giving a rang, they seemed to quite helpful?. The 'frogmobile' is off the road at moment while we do some other bits and pieces so we'll try and take it in next month to them. Has anybody on here fitted the extra 'vaccum reservoir' in line to try and stop the 'ghousting' on heavy braking with the ABS on. I read some lads in America had done it on Elise/Exige's to good effect and was wondering if to try it, I can't see it doing any harm either way. chinky chinky Regards, F & T.

Cheers for the info, Hofmanns were unable to reset it today and suggested another independant, if they don't have the kit I'll try DL :)

Thanks Muncher, I've sent you a message on the 'vacuum reservoir' as I don't want to hijack this thread or if it has been covered before. F&T.

Theo I have found it is a lot better than the stock VXT module but is not a full cure :( On track it gets turned off as it does give the initial feel of the brakes not fully biting but no 'ice mode' Paul I have not had a play with the booster system but could be interesting to test. For winter wet driving it is on and not a problem - dry / hot driving or pushing on = turn it off and drive the car without help ;) DG

Got the Exige ECU reset today by Dick Lovett in Swindon, very friendly and helpful place and it was nice to drool over the Ferrari's while waiting. The brakes now, ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! You have to be off your head to not consider getting the 4 channel upgrade, the weather today was dreadful I did several test stops on the way home. i.e sudden very heavy application of the brakes on rough bumpy, wet surfaces and each and every time the car stood on its nose and pulled up faster than I could have possibly managed with the ABS disabled and the difference to stock ABS, well its on another planet. Absolutely no rush forward with that horrid all the brakes have been disabled feeling, just un-dramatic very good stopping :D The drive home I took the cross country route across the downs, past the white horse etc and I pushed on in the rain like i'd never have considered in the past. £52 was the reset / setup charged from Dick Lovett :) Impressed is not the word !

Just fitted mine, strangely no ABS light and low-speed ABS performance doesn't seem much better than before. I was deliberately provoking it to make sure the module was functioning so maybe it wasn’t a fair test. I haven't tried any high speed braking yet. I am still running 17" fronts and also the front tyres are well worn compared to the back (which are brand new) but I thought I would notice the benefit of the 4 channel?
