to add to the to do list, the brakes seem to need a long depress to come on and the parking light is constantly on the brakes havent been worn in yet, but dont seem very responcive dispite the fact it now has braded hoses... i am back at work now and wont get a day off for another 6 and a bit weeks, CMS are booked up solid for the next 5 weeks. does anyone know a good place i can take it that wont charge me millions of pounds but are relyable and can sort this? happy to leave it with a good .org member if anyone wants some work, willing to deliver the car a fair 'ol distance too! its really close to being finished and i cant wait. i took it for a cheeky spin on a private road (as i dont have an MOT, and therefore stupidly cant get tax either). it is awesome! the noise is great, but the 5.5k limit is a real shame! i am pleased that the sc whine isnt constant, but reminds you its there with the lightened flywheel it does spin up quickly and i need to be careful of the throttle when taking off. if anyone wants the work or can point me toward a good place, please do let me know.

Bloody hell, who did the work pre .org help?

If you mean supercharger conversions then http://www.courtenaysport.co.uk/ have been quite successful. They can also sort out brakes!

Thanks for the link in stortford. I am in Bury St Edmunds. and, as i said CMS are booked up for the next few weeks. Its all the minor things that now need sorting, but the to-do list is quite long, but easy work for someone that knows these cars and the engine. -just really worried about it being taken care of and looked over, as i dont know what is lurking around on the car and what is and isnt really up to scratch. -my next one will be to get the geo looked at as well, any good suggestions for anyone around here? the blast i went on (limited to 5.5 k) was brilliant. what a car! it really is worth it :)

in answer to VXT Tim, the car was worked on by a guy in exchange for some web design, with the plan being that he would overhaul the car, bring it up to show room condition, fit the SC detail it and basically make it like new (new brakes, sort out the front clam, braded lines, detailing sort the interior etc etc. after taking the car and having it for a long while the due date was july 23rd, and after repeated promises of "next couple of days", "next week", and "should be ready friday" i, sadly, reached the end of my summer holiday and time left to actually enjoy the car (i am a house master and therefore work 7 days a week in a boarding house, hence the next actual full day off not coming round for over 6 weeks). it got to the end of the holiday and without the help of the wonderful and experienced people on here i dont think that my car would have ever been running. it still has some way to go and regretfully all of my plans of holidays, driver training and enjoying the car in the sun are now all but a painful memory. especially as i am considering changing career, so i probably wont get another long summer like that again.... in fairness work has been done on the car, replacing the front arb, fitting brakes, tyres sorting out soem quite bad corrosion in the car where it had dynamat under the seats, and sorting out some of the bubbling (although it will need a respray as it is not soft or smooth to the touch). i am quite eager to get the car up and finished now, but i want to have total faith in the car before i am willing to do that, and so would love to know somewhere cheap to work on the car, as i have basically run out of majoy cash and cant afford to drop a grand on getting it up to scratch at the moment (hence the website deal, of which it is a really good website). the saga continues...

Not sure it was ambiguous, however I was only interested in an answer to my interpretation of my question, not yours thumbsup

List of bits that need doing: 1. New dip stick bracket 2. new belt tensioner installed 3. parking light is permanently on 4. ABS light is on (hoping i can work out which sensor with the Op-Com) 5. possibly sort out hand brake travel 6. work out why the brakes seem quite loose 7. look into the clutch point being high 8. refit the font clam properly 9. pressurise the new rad we installed 10. reccomendations of ride height and geo, in comparison to a sorted car with the same set up (it seems to rock side to side a bit on some roads, but this may be me not used to the car and the notron street) currently set up as 115/125 ride height and no idea about toe angles and such that have been set up on the car. 12. take it out for a spin and look over the car and see if anything else needs sorting. 13. oh, and i need to buy some new bulbs this weekend if i get a chance. 14. MOT happy to ship this out and trailer the car to someone to play on as and when you/they get a chance. i have a garrage around here that does know these type of engines, but explaining the car and the jacking points and how to remove and fit the clam etc etc would take a lot of time and stress. cah-monies in return and up front to buy in bits or i can try and source bits and get them sent to whomever is working on this. I have a Halfords trade card if this helps?

Having met you and heard you tails of woe and having managed to get some of this done, I would love to be able to help again but time is not on my side and I am booked up till mid October now plus I have nowhere to keep your pride and joy. Sorry mate. But I will help where I can.

1 - new dipstick, possibly sump off to retrieve the rest of the dipstick
2 - easy to do
3 + 5 - i take it you had a new handbrake cable fitted? should just need adjusting, never heard of the light staying on though so maybe the switch maybe broken under the handbrake lever
4 - if you have a speedo then that eliminates the pax rear, easy to check, it is most probably a wire that has broken. you might get lucky and it is repairable or a new hub will be required
6 + 7 - it will just need about 2 or 3 bleeds! the vx is a nightmare when you change the brake hoses
8 - easy enough to do although you do have a forge cc
9 - bleed the system
10 - gugliemi motorsport will sort that

All his hub wires are intact, I suspect a plug issue but we ran out of time, light and the will to live on Saturday after your news. I do feel I should do the clam adjustment though.

I used a p-clip for the dipstick tube. The op-com will tell you witch hub it is. I found that one terminal corrodes on the wheel sensors. Open the plug, it will be obvious. Give it a clean and a drop of oil. Nearly there Dave!

11. Speedo isnt working

-cant belive i forgot that one. that may explain the ABS light then?

Cliffie you have been excellent and the time you have given up already i could never question. to give up the one weekend that you do have off, and the one day of that weekend to work thought till gone 10 pm on the car is more than i could have asked for. it was a very hard and constant working day for all involved, i wish that i could have done more to help, but these are only so many hands in the bay that will actually fit. (although i did get good at removing that aqward clip!).

its things like the prospect of the sump off that i really wont be able to do, even if i had the time.

joe/FLD- thanks for the reply.

again, if anyone wants this work or can point me in the right direction to get this done for cash or at a garrage that wont charge 68 quid an hour or similar then that would be very useful.
