My astra was stage 3 running 300bhp though, if that makes a difference? Its supposed to be running 241bhp as i have the graphs from previous owner. TBH i found it hard to pull away from a Fiesta ST from second gear, he pretty much kept up untill forth gear

Did you take the handbrake off? Otherwise, it sounds fecked.

Its weird, it does feel fast but not as fast as i thought it would be. I dont mind, i love the car the way it is... i hope its not fooked though :( Sometimes but rarely, when i put my foot down the car can sort of stall as if i've let off quickly or slammed the brake very quickly (but foot is still down) then it will continue speeding up... it happens very quickly though

Regarding the turbo whine and suggestion that your turbo might be dying - I'm surprised the car feels slower than your astra, if its stage 2 it ought to be noticeably quicker. Maybe the 2 issues are related?

Do you know what power it is supposed to be running?

Even taking driver weight into account your astra needed 352bhp to match the VX power to weight ratio. I'd definitely be surprised if the VX felt slower. When you say whine its not a sort of whooshing noise is it? If so could be a boost pipe loose/off.

2nd gear in your VX should have annihilated the fiesta assuming it was standard...

Yeah the ST was standard. Its sad as the Fiesta is crap and the VXR would of eaten it so easily. What do you mean by whooshing, hard to explain its sort of like a quiet hoover or a computer starting up kind of. Second gear in the VXR felt a lot quicker and torquey than the VX, third gear isnt anywhere near as pully as the VXR and forth and fifth arnt worth mentioning... only from a standing start in first gear the VX is quicker but rolling start in first its not. I noticed it took a lot quicker to overtake a VTR than the VXR did, also my friends say it doesnt seem as quick. I thought something was wrong but then i started to think maybe its normal and its just not as quick and for the last 2 weeks i've been living with it fine but now you lot are saying it doesnt sound right... its getting to me :(

Try dropping RedVTS, VXTyrant a shout as they are Tyne/Weirsiders and also Stage 2+ Tubby owners. Great lads and will help out I am sure. If not there is P4cks (though he is probably ignoring us all, whilst playing away) who has had a Tubby or 3, or Cramman, Zimmer or various othe NE folk. Unfortunately I am now not much help as my time in the Toon has passed.

For servicing - Dan Jude at sps automotive in consett gets my custom. If you want to use a main dealer then Bristol street in newcastle on scotswood rd have also been ok with servicing, they get their share of vxs so sure they wouldn't be taking it for a cheeky spin. Don't take it to a lotus dealer, it's a vauxhall after all. Can't help with the power issue I'm afraid but sure Dan or one of the locals with tubby's would help you out as mangham said. I don't think a fiesta st would have a hope against my humble NA, let alone a turbo. My ride with SteveA in his stage 2 scared me shitless! Rich
