Uploading a vid now. I've noticed on idle the engine revs on its own a bit and i've just noticed a tapping sort of noise, seems to be coming from the right ear. Lots of smoke too, its not very cold outside

For servicing - Dan Jude at sps automotive in consett gets my custom. If you want to use a main dealer then Bristol street in newcastle on scotswood rd have also been ok with servicing, they get their share of vxs so sure they wouldn't be taking it for a cheeky spin.
Don't take it to a lotus dealer, it's a vauxhall after all.

Can't help with the power issue I'm afraid but sure Dan or one of the locals with tubby's would help you out as mangham said.
I don't think a fiesta st would have a hope against my humble NA, let alone a turbo. My ride with SteveA in his stage 2 scared me shitless!

Rich

If you do use Bristol Street then make sure you ask for Dave... He only does everyother Saturday, but said he would make sure he was there if needed to work on a VX as he is the only one 'officially' trained and he seemed to know his stuff. Plus he bled and stripped and refitted my brakes for £30 when it was in for a service/MOT last year as he did it in his lunch hour.

Servicing costs there aren't cheap mind!

12k :o ...and it sounds like that?!!

I'm a NA owner, but I'm sure no VX engine is supposed to sound like that.

"What's wrong with it?" - it sounds like a cross between a dodgy lawnmower and a tractor.

My astra was stage 3 running 300bhp though, if that makes a difference? Its supposed to be running 241bhp as i have the graphs from previous owner. TBH i found it hard to pull away from a Fiesta ST from second gear, he pretty much kept up untill forth gear

Did you take the handbrake off? Otherwise, it sounds fecked.

It is fecked , My NA is faster than an ST ,you have a problem.

Its in a garage so will sound a tiny bit louder and i do have the phone pretty close to the engine but i just thought these engines were noisey. I can hear a tapping noise and the engine seems to rev on its own slightly. :(

Mine is faster, just seemed to take a while to get away. Seems like to have to rev it a lot to get the best out of it... like a type R. I've been out in a lads stage 2 turbo near me before i bought mine and it feels about the same, his maybe a little faster

Not sure about that tap,it seems slower than engine revs, may be a tappet but not sure it sounds like any i have had stick over the years.Need an engine boffin.

A stage two Turbo and a ST your having a giraffe. You could tow another vx and still be faster. :lol
Without the numbers to hand say 0-100 on one is 13ish and one 18ish 0-60 4ish and 7.5 ish(just my guess)
Now you have me thinking i will have to get the book out see how close i was
