The stage 3 astra wouldn't stan a chance if your car was running properly mate. Honestly mine is stage 2 and a chap in a new AMG SLK went home very dejected. I fitted a boost gauge a while back and the hose popped off and it was lime driving a car with little or no turbo at all. Get a boost gauge as they're easy to fit and this will help diagnose problems :)

It literally sounds like it's going to be the smallest problem that takes 5 minutes to solve if you take it to someone who actually knows what an engine is.

Well i hope so but maybe this is why the lad was selling his car...

If he did not have another fast car to compare with like you ,he may have found it ok.Some guys dont rag them like us i mean you

I dont rag my car thank you very much

When you say the astra wont stand a chance do you mean from standing start or in second gear? The VXR stage 3 gives the best power after 30mph so it would have to be a rolling start to compare

Seriously tho It would not compare even on a rolling start in a straight line.

On the track the vx would be lapping the vxr. thumbsup

I mean in any way you choose to compare them. It's literally not possible to expect a mass production family hatchback to compete with a purpose built sportscar, it wouldn't be fair. The VX will always accelerate faster because it weighs less, simples. Then in a real life situation and not an infinitely straight road where you both approach say , a roundabout, then the VX will brake later corner faster and accelerate quicker out of it. There's just no chance. There comes a point obviously where if u were to throw enough money a an astra then it would beat a VX, but then if you did the same mods to the VX, you would again have the same disparity.

Fix your running issue and you will see for yourself :)

Chin up about the work, you'll be ok, as for the car, get it looked at, stop comparing it to anything until it's right, then get used to driving it before even considering more power, most of what you have said so far has just been inviting the comments you've been getting to be honest and the folk on here don't need much justification to start taking the pee, you get used to it though......eventually. Even with it running right I would first consider handling modifications over brute force to be honest, I've only got a standard NA but in the real world it's plenty fast enough to embarrass lots of proper quick cars. Up against Turbo/VXR 220's it's not night and day on the road, on a good bit of country lane after the initial surge of acceleration when I was following Mani (Peak District scouting run, not the time I had the speed limiter in the car - wife  ) I was right with him, once I had got used to the way he drove I could anticipate and was even closer, I was ragging the asre off it mind but that's what they are built for. Good luck with getting it sorted and on the job front. thumbsup

You've got the wrong idea completely. Owning a VX is about being able to tell everyone its faster than whatever they've got. To prove this you need a car this quick away from the lights, can spin up the rear wheels and that looks fast - spoilers and such like can help here.

When I go down to MK on a saturday night and park up with all my mates its pointless harking on about the finer points of its handling and how its quicker through the corners. That wont do my street cred any good. I need to be seen as faster than thise VXR Astras, Focus RS's and Subarus  No idea some peeps. ;)

There is absolutely no malice meant in my comment at all.
It's merely referring to the fact that the comments and advice are going around in circles.

astra- It's not faster than 'X'......
Forum- It should be faster, get it checked out.
astra- Ok.
astra- would it be faster than 'X' between <insert speed
Forum- Yes, it would be faster at all speeds get it checked out.
astra- OK.
astra- would it be faster than......
....continue to fade

If you lived closer I would happily look at it and try and help identify the problem Posted Image

Good luck with finding a solution to your issues, hopefully it will be nice cheap and simple.
Also sorry to hear of your personal issues, however it can be the making of some people so hope it is for you.

In the meantime I shall go back to my 'perfect' life ;) (that was a joke before you get upset/irritated again)

Chin up fella.

Banter on I say!

Just wondering why you spent 12k on a VX if you are skint?

Im not saying its a bad thing, I did the same, then proceeded to spend thousands more tuning it... I have no food or gas this week as I just bought all my stage 4 parts + new coilovers and now im saving for the labour costs and the downforce kit... I'm gona be rly skinny soon

Why dont you buy a boostgauge and a ScanGauge, You would be able to come back with some readings on the forums and people could help! Would only cost you £130 for both delivered thumbsup

Lol i wasnt skint i was perfectly fine when i bought the car then my company decided to temp lay me off, not too bad as its temp but still going to have to find money for a few weeks, months. Is there no other way to find readings etc? Like the astra you could press the brake and pedal and it would give codes
