...still going then....and I'm guessing still hasn't had a specialist/anyone look at it...

I've been told im getting laid off work next week, i was told this a few days ago so i've had other things on my mind too. Things are very hard in my life at the moment, your life may be perfect, you might have a lot of cash but for me im having to put on hold for a little while and not use the car as much. I am booking it in for next week sometime. If people dont want to read this shite thread then dont, no need to say im a troll

Banter on I say!

Just wondering why you spent 12k on a VX if you are skint?

Im not saying its a bad thing, I did the same, then proceeded to spend thousands more tuning it... I have no food or gas this week as I just bought all my stage 4 parts + new coilovers and now im saving for the labour costs and the downforce kit... I'm gona be rly skinny soon

Why dont you buy a boostgauge and a ScanGauge, You would be able to come back with some readings on the forums and people could help! Would only cost you £130 for both delivered thumbsup

Lol i wasnt skint i was perfectly fine when i bought the car then my company decided to temp lay me off, not too bad as its temp but still going to have to find money for a few weeks, months. Is there no other way to find readings etc? Like the astra you could press the brake and pedal and it would give codes

Really? That's pretty clever!

Cool, cheap scanguage

Sorry to interrupt --but where does one fit a boost gauge ---I know in the context of this thread this might seem a unduly trivial question , but the fact is that I dont know.

It's actually really simple you just remove the small vacuum pipe connected to the fuel pressure regulator, fit a t-piece and spur off of that to your boost gauge which can be mounted in a place of your choice. This will instantly tell you if you're losing performance as a result of loss of boost.

If you can hear a sort of whooshing sound under acceleration you are losing boost pressure simples. You don't need a code to tell you that, and even if it did it wouldn't help you locate the problem it would just say find the leak.

Thanks for that --it's not me losing performance , in fact I sometimes think I have too much of it. (Stage 4 VXT on a 67 year old !!) Just wondered where to fit one. thumbsup

Where's the best place to buy a boost gauge with fittings? Are they all a similar price to courtenays? Seems a tad expensive

I'd guess there's about 10,000 for sale on eBay as they seem to be the ricers wet dream gauge.

Astravxr Slight wheezing sound even off throttle + ticking when you start up until it gets warm (when the metal expands and closes the crack) is 99% a cracked turbo manifold

Best replace it with a vxr one then mate, I have a feeling Nev might have one knocking about so it might be worth a pm
