Sounds like which ever pad I choose I won't get away from the brake dust :( Ie they will all have more dust compared to the ebc red stuff? What's the difference between the 1155 and 1144? Still lots of brake dust?

but on the flip side, it will actually slow down when you want it to. Braking is a simple physics thing.... and dust has to happen. Its just how fcuking evil that dust is that you want to control.

Unless you've tried every pad it's hard to make a comparison between all of them..

Just get the pagid rs14's. Their black and will look great with the rest of the car. ;) As for dust, just invest in your local eastern European watering hole more often. Gets the economy going to! Win, win.

I have rs14 after having used 1144 for a number of years. Wouldn't buy anything else now. Work from cold and good on road (brilliant on track). Dust doesn't seem too bad (but I tend not to spend hours cleaning my car as it only really gets used on track). If you can stomach the cost, buy pagid rs14

Am I right in thinking the rs14 are about 300 for a set? Do they squeal at all? Not too fussed about noise as long as they don't eat my wheels :)

Can't quite remember price, but around that mark seems to about right. Elise parts were cheapest I think. They do squeal very slightly at low speed, but it's nothing you couldn't live with. As mentioned, I shamefully haven't cleaned my car or wheels for a while but the dust doesn't seem too bad (sure someone else could comment). From a performance point of view, they are brilliant imho

Might just be me :) but I've always found the brakes not to be as effective as my Clio v6 that I use to own. I do hear that most people say the red stuff pads are worse than oem so maybe it's just them Don't get me wrong I'm no driving god but would still like some decent pads

It's amazing the difference difference pads can make. Ones that are suited to the car and it's weight. As our cars are light (and especially at the nose) then it can be hard to get enough temperature into some pads to make them work well compared to when they go on a different car. You won't be disappointed if you go for either Pagid rs14 or the Mintex 1155, so pick one of those (but I still think you'll be happy with the Mintex once you get over the dust issue ;))

Do people tend to change discs when changing pads even if the discs are ok?

Taking into account how cheap discs are I change them whenever I fit new pads.

You can waste loads off the new pads bedding them in to old disks and if you have to do an emergency stop in the first few days when only half the pad is in use !!! If new disks cost a fortune and where a bastard to fit it may be worth it, but they are not. Buy the full kit

Used to run EBC Redstuff, changed to Mintex, then jumped to CL5+ .... the CL5+ is Great... all the horror stories are but a few bad cases... My next jump is CL6 Ive changed my discs once, as they had lipped Re the brake dust... cant say ive really noticed myself... but normally washes off anyhow

So a full set of discs and 1155 pads from camskill, a litre or two of ATE super blue fluid and the jobs a good'un! Descision made. Being so cheap, if you don't get on with the 1155's after 1000miles and decide to change them, you won't have lost a load of cash and you can buy some others - and have a set of very nearly new discs ready for them. It's a win win scenario. Will ya fit them yourself?

What did you think of the mintex mbes? Knowing my luck I'd buy the cl5+ and end up with a bad pair

I was thinking if I change the discs I want to go for 308 need to find some prices don't no how they compare price wise to standard discs. Look like il have to Wait for the bill from mmg (expecting a big one) and then hopefully il be purchasing pads and discs

Jumping from the Mintex to the CL5+ was a very big jump! but cl5 is trackbased (even the box says track use only)

Whatever you pick they will be better than the Redstuffs

Many people use 1144 for both road and track and most of the time its the brake fluid that will give up first but for normal road use, it wont get that hot (the word normal used) :P

Why dont you ask Liam what he would advise ? as your car is with him, he could just fit them

imho its not worth the faff to change to 308mm discs. They were almost double the price of 288mm discs (and double the weight), and needed spacers for the callipers which moved some of the pad off the disc etc as the callipers aren't designed for a 308 disc. They don't look 'huge' either so you'd be hard pushed to notice  Also ATE Superblue is total overkill/annoying. Just a decent OEM spec 5.1 will be fine and only cost £3/Litre :)
