Fantastic project Alastair!!!

It must be one of the quickest cars in our area. I bet the LY feels like a 1.0L corsa in comparison lol!!!!

thanks,

and yes it does feel slow but in reality the vx is nearly fast enough for road use i would say maybe another 50bhp and a diff and it would be perfect over that it just gets silly.

saying that thats only compared to it in n/a mode where it had 175bhp now has over 300 if i want it to and i havnt driven it yet

So a future supercharger conversion and diff it is then????

Double the HP and probably a couple of hundred kg lighter than the LY. It's going to be an animal.

You'll regret that IMHO. A supercharged vx is more powerful and lighter than an exige S2. If you're talking about an S1 exige with Honda conversion then that's another story.

It's not all about weight and power though! Otherwise everyone would just drive a caterham type car like mine

Of course not. There are 100s of different reasons for wanting a car. I just assumed that you building your car and engines to the sec they are. that you were after that thrill and speed rush for little outlay. So therefor said an exige wouldn't be the way to go. However if your after an everyday driver with fun factor then I can see some appeal.

One car that does all, is standard and reliable and fast enough to have fun in yet anyone can drive exige seems to cover that quite well

Will see how I get on with this though!

not been doing much, waiting for warmer weather

i have had some seat cover made for the tilletts which looks smart.

also been setting the camber, need to check tracking but will do that over the next week

engine is running fine and cooling fine, it has a slight weep on bottom rad hose that i dont seem to be able to cure at the moment though, alsi need to raise the exhaust silencer up as its too low i think, and see if the narrow band lambda is working so they can get the low down mapping spot on

anyway was out last week and engine stopped making or holding boost, and also making a strange noise. limped it home thinking i had clutch issues so pulled the engine

Posted Image

checked the clutch over which was fine

Posted Image

Posted Image

Posted Image

anyway at least i know that thats fine!

anyway back together and back it went

Posted Image

checked all boost pipes there were fine, then fault the turbo play which wasnt good!

turbo and manifold of

Posted Image

blades

Posted Image

housing markings

Posted Image

urn out turbo bearings had failed due to heat issues, i had problem on the rollers that caused a hot shut down and overheat of the engine which i think has contributed to this failure.

not ideal as the near turbo core is only £150 less than a new turbo!

decided to combat the issue by plumbing in a turbo cooler and a aux water pump to circulate water after engine shut down.

picked up a davis craig pump and im going to use a oil cooler as that all i can fit in the front of the car, will be bigger than this one but same width as im having to move other stuff around so got this to test fit before buying a new one.

pump wired in awaiting hoses to arrive

had to install another switch in the cabin getting like a plane now!
