Can you not get to your old car now? Just need the ring round the ignition and the chip in the key. Means you can put the stuff from your new car in your old one so that ones complete then too.

Can't log into the ECU with the code Vauxhall has given me. When we did the auto check it seems to want to log into the immobilizer? does this sound right? Do i need the car pass for the white one too?

Like I said, I don't think you can do anything with OP-COM to get the old ECU to talk to a different (but already paired against a different ECU) ignition barrel transponder. As far as I knew, if you want to pair them up, it needs to be a new (and therefore blank) transponder. Either that or maybe it's only something a genuine TECH2 can handle.

If I recode the old ecu will it loose its mapping?

I doubt it very much but I don't know what you mean about re-coding it? I don't think either bit is going to talk to the other bit, whatever you do.

This is presumably why you see ECU+Key+Ring on ebay together...? Can't you get Courtenay to speak to Stefen and come to an arrangement over mapping so you don't have to pay license fee again?

I believe a genuine Tech 2 will code them together

Correct. It's also why you can only program brand new blank key transponders to the immobiliser and not reprogram already programmed key transponders.

Good find. I just wish somebody else would give a second, third and fourth opinion to confirm it can't be done with OP-COM at least, before Stuwy spends any more money.

TECH2 is the £3,000+ Vauxhall main dealer handheld diagnostics kit that hand holds a technician through the whole diagnosis process and allows ECU updates, ABS updates, BCM updates etc to be uploaded. OP-COM is a £10 Hungarian software knock-off which imitates some of the main fault interrogation/clearing features of TECH2 but still falls a long way short of the real thing.

Ah ok. Presumedly its one of those things that Vauxhall Stealers charge sh*t loads of money to use on your car

Will the transponder need new keys? and how would I get that to work?

we loged onto the engine ecu in the engine section of the obcom program and it gave the vin number of the black one. then we navigated to the immobilizer menu and it gave the Vin number of the white one. So presumably then if I get a new transponder, it will think the car is the black one and the vins wont match. V5, chassis and window will say one and the car electronics will say another.. Is this a problem?

I have two avenues tomorrow to explore for information and then I'll try and work out what to do :)
