and just to top off my grate day. I need a new windscreen and nearly sliced my index finger off in the process

What have you done now? It looked brand new last week :(

Pulled the old mirror off and a chunk of glass come off with it, the bone in my finger is the only reason I still have a finger  :borg:

I'm at a bit of a loss, Shirley its simpler to go back to his old car. Get the chip out the key and he ring from round the column. Not only benifical to him but also to whoever has his old car. A bit silly but even ask to buy those bits for sheer simplicity!

I think it's gone back to the insurance company, so access may be an issue or even impossible. Potentially anywhere in the country by now or even in 50cm cube next to a crusher. The simple thing was to take the ecu, the transponder and the key chips in the first place but I guess Stuwy didn't know all three parts were required.

Phone the insurance and try and fins out which scarp yard they deal with as it may be local. It may still be sat in their yard and not quite be square yet!

so do you have a matching "ecu / transponder / key chip" set fitted OR programmed them to be a matching set ?

if not, it is never going to start

Unless they magically become a matching set.

It will never start.

An ECU doctor and CS have both told me.. So I need to blank my ECU and start again, and as far as I am aware, it will loose its mapping too :(

I have one more contact at Vauxhall to try otherwise its going to be an expensive exercise to get this fcuker running

the Vauxhall contact has told me that to wipe the ECU it needs to be on the original car. So that now means I need a new ECU, transponder set..

Can an ECU be programed to a car with the opcom or does it need to be teck 2?

Yes that is only a plan if the new stuff can be programed to the car with the opcom laptop software

If you buy a matched set of the three parts, you don't need to program anything, they'll just work.

You'll also need to make sure you either buy a matched set of VX220 ecu/transponder/key chips. If you get a cheapo Vectra/Astra set you'll need to get the firmware reflashed with the VX220 configuration (unless you want permanent EML's for faults in the missing aircon or powersteering). I think Courtenay can upload a proper VX220 base configuration with their TECH2. Alternatively, people like the ECU Doctor on flidBay can do it.

Whatever you get, your SC map will have to be reloaded onto this new ecu by Courtenay/Klassen, not something that can be done via Opcom.
