That's a load rubbish! I've been on a lot of dyno's at different stages of tune and had no problem reaching 300hp with a milltek exhaust 100cell cat (obviously depends on dyno) it's only recently I've changed to a 3" exhaust as I was lucky and a second hand one came up for sale at a good price

why are you so peeved at the OEM not over speccing the engine to let you mod the sh*t out of it with no requirements to upgrade? its not like they legally have to supply an engine that is capable of 50% more power with a simple software fiddle but then back it off and then do the emissions....

but I trust you now see the futality of "stage" tuning

Just to give you an idea I ran with a 2.5" exhaust and mine made around 290 ponies. However, it also had.. Uprated clutch. 80mm Pipework. VXR turbo. VXR injectors. Larger IC. CS plenum. Other bits and bobs....so the exhaust isn't a biggie. However, note my dyno comment in the thread earlier. Nothing like spewing numbers down the pub eh!

They also said the Milltek was not able to flow over 240bhp without restricting power

If they're saying that, they have some other agenda.

My first VX made ~250bhp using the standard exhaust with the pre-cat drilled out and a milltek back box.

Lots of us have ~300bhp using the 2.5" milltek system.

Or the question that was asked or how the answer was phrased, is somewhat different to how it's portrayed here.

They also said the Milltek was not able to flow over 240bhp without restricting power! Are they really that rubbish? After all they are described as a performance exhaust and cost a fair amount on top of a good reputation in the exhaust industry (used by most R35 GTR owners I know) There must be people out there running 275 with a Milltek?

Who said that about the Milltek?

There is that too.

The way the questions have been asked here could lead to about a dozen realworld answers, so asking a company who have to put up with this sort of thing on a regular basis would probably have call centre type default answers and being epssamistic saves a pisseed off customer moaning that stage XYZ didnt reach an arbitrary number that a stage should make, honest guv

vx220Tim, pop along this weekend, a few of us will be on track, a good mix of different power VX setups.

Worth a look if not too far from you.

OP - a Milltek wil easily handle 240 bhp.  I have that exhaust and am making over 290.  Are you only concenred with BHP? What about torque? You may find that a remap will give you more torque or smoother power delivery.  Do you still have the 'hole' in power delivery at around 3k? A good re-map will erradicte this making for a much improved drive.

As has been said, one of your biggest concerns increasing the power is the clutch.  It's variable as to how long it'll last at 240+ BHP but you really need to factor this into your upgrades.  No point in having more power if your clutch can't handle it.

That sounds like a very good idea mbes2, I will be there. Can I take mine on if I turn up with a crash helmet? I will wait until after then to book my remap with CS. I do think they will get me some extra torque and a few more bhp with a bit of a play.

I used my Racelogic Vbox to time mine today. It was with cold tyres that are not the best brand (Kumho Ecsta le sports) damp cold road Just 1 go and got 0-60 in 4.84 and 0-100 in 11.84 seconds so its quite quick really, just not quite quick enough.

Does anyone know what boost they run at 240-250 bhp. Looking at a recent dyno (Dastek John Clarkson Autos) Mine peaks at 0.85 bar at around 2650 rpm and tails off to 0.6 bar at 6000. With a low of 0.57bar between 4500-5500 revs. How does this compare other 220bhp cars?

Dastek dyno's do tend to be on the high side (but everyone knows each dyno can vary)

Bugger, forgot I'm going to NEC Classic car show Saturday so wont be able to make it. Found a graph on-line and mine looks way down on boost compared to 240 bhp car.

I'm loathe to take part in this thread, but if you're concerned about low boost then have you still got your original intake pipe? Also check boost control solenoid(s).

And, I'm a little surprised I'm saying this, but... USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION (or at least try to FFS)

THEN DON'T! I'm just asking the advice of fellow vx220 owners. Sorry but I thought that is what Forums were good for? I dont expect people that dont want to help to help. Just those that are willing to.
