Small update. Still only managed one day on the car so far but it give us chance to tidy up a few unfinished jobs and tie up some loose ends...
First thing i decided to do was the cover for the access hole to the in tank fuel pump. Just a simple piece of 1.6mm ss plate cut to size and new mounting hole locations drilled. Rivnuts put in and some m6 bolts to hold it in position.
I made a simple gasket from some nitrile i purchased to use elsewhere just to keep any nasty fumes entering the cabin.
next up was the hole i cut in the bulkhead for the throttle intake pipe. I planned all along to have a go at repairing this in fiberglass but while i was there and cracking on with things, i decided to use what i had to hand. I quickly drew out a template and cut out some aluminium printers plate id previously aquired from work. Riveted it into position and bonded and sealed it with some p.u sealant . Heres the outcome.
not exactly pretty but its functional and should look fine once ive given it a lick of black paint to blend in with the rest of the bulkhead.
whilst on a mission to get as many of the small jobs done as possible i decided to take on some previous advice and swap out the rivets id used on things like the fuel swirl pot and charge cooler mountings for m6 rivnuts so they shouldnt manage to come loose so easiy now. No pics of this.
The whole exhaust fabrication has been holding us up for some time now aswel as me changing my mind on many things such as the turbo and manifold etc. Now ive decied what i want weve started to seriously put our ideas into action after taking many measurements. Weve made the jig for the manifold. Just waiting for my tial flange to come back so we can make the collector and then put together the tubular manifold. Thats where these beauties come into play....
obviously thers a lot more where they came from.
Heres the jig all finished with manifold flange mounted.
painted some more parts like my driveshafts and gear linkage etc ready to go on the car.
