although its the SC NA cars that seem to get through driveshafts and gaiters quicker

That's due to divine justice! The gods have decided that anyone infidels trying to increase their NA power should suffer from extreme oil consumption and broken gaiters! Surely everyone knows that 250 ft/lb is just too much for the drive shaft assembly ;)

Get a Kia gaitor seem to last twice as long Probably due to low ride heights rather than being a na/sc

Almost certainly the problem IMO too.

How's the power curve going to compare to a supercharged 2.2 na? Anybody any ideas?

Probably nothing like it - much bigger!

No updates atm. Been way too busy in work for the last two months but will be getting on with it within the next couple of weeks hopefully..... i have bought some new goodies to go with the build so il just give you a teaser of whats to come :)

New flange for tubular manifold to be fabricated next..

Posted Image

gt3071r with tial turbine housing and tial wastegate..

Posted Image

group A air filter and new expansion tank

Posted Image

ive had my driveshafts made up :)

Posted Image

lasty ive got some PEC rods and rs mk2 pistons.

Posted Image

Posted Image

sadly i think the pistons will be the limiting factor on this build at the moment as they will be maxed out at around 440bhp, although im sure this will be more than enough power and the torque should be quite impressive.

cant wait to get back down the garage and get my hands dirty again :)

Small update. Still only managed one day on the car so far but it give us chance to tidy up a few unfinished jobs and tie up some loose ends...

First thing i decided to do was the cover for the access hole to the in tank fuel pump. Just a simple piece of 1.6mm ss plate cut to size and new mounting hole locations drilled. Rivnuts put in and some m6 bolts to hold it in position.

I made a simple gasket from some nitrile i purchased to use elsewhere just to keep any nasty fumes entering the cabin.

Posted Image

next up was the hole i cut in the bulkhead for the throttle intake pipe. I planned all along to have a go at repairing this in fiberglass but while i was there and cracking on with things, i decided to use what i had to hand. I quickly drew out a template and cut out some aluminium printers plate id previously aquired from work. Riveted it into position and bonded and sealed it with some p.u sealant . Heres the outcome.

Posted Image

not exactly pretty but its functional and should look fine once ive given it a lick of black paint to blend in with the rest of the bulkhead.

whilst on a mission to get as many of the small jobs done as possible i decided to take on some previous advice and swap out the rivets id used on things like the fuel swirl pot and charge cooler mountings for m6 rivnuts so they shouldnt manage to come loose so easiy now. No pics of this.

The whole exhaust fabrication has been holding us up for some time now aswel as me changing my mind on many things such as the turbo and manifold etc. Now ive decied what i want weve started to seriously put our ideas into action after taking many measurements. Weve made the jig for the manifold. Just waiting for my tial flange to come back so we can make the collector and then put together the tubular manifold. Thats where these beauties come into play....

Posted Image

obviously thers a lot more where they came from.

Heres the jig all finished with manifold flange mounted.

Posted Image

painted some more parts like my driveshafts and gear linkage etc ready to go on the car.
